Mog Chat Room - What Do You All Think?

The new Mog chat room has been a great addition to the Mogosphere. I've had some fun convos with other Moggers like GoodMusicOnly, Horse, Muttermieli, Mike, FlowerPower and everyone's favorite Britt. I thought this song title was a good one for this post! Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be too many people in there the last bunch of times I've popped in. Most of my trusteds don't seem to frequent the chat room. I guess most people are too busy to spend much time there.So, tell me, what do all my fellow moggers think of the new chat room?

    Mike the Knife says I like it, and I've had a couple of nice interactions with fellow MOGgers there, but I think it would be more vibrant and active if there was an eye-catching icon/link on the MOG home page instead of a teeny, tiny thing buried way at the bottom. I'm just sayin'...

    Groon says I barely remember reading one blurb about it in the MOG Gazette, but there has been very little attention given to it, so it quickly slipped my mind. Never been the biggest fan of chat rooms, but maybe I'll give it a try tonight or so.

    HelenMarie says I payed 1 visit, but I couldn't really catch into a good coversation, hyman was in there encouraging moggers to vote for mog for some reason or another, so that's what I did. Humm? donno if I can get into i,t but I'm sure I'll stop by again and see how it goes.

    Neill says It needs a theme, now if 'they' streamed a different brand new album everyday and invited people in to listen, you would then get something to talk about. I don't really want to know what the time is in New Zealand or what the weather is like in Angola.... ;)

    Hmmm says It was awesome the first night I was on, but now I've encountered the same problem as every one else- finding an empty room every time I've got on since. Maybe we should encourage more people to get on at designated times, like friday nights or something

    Anna says I like it a lot. When I started to connect to some people here, we exchanged yahoo messenger and msn addresses. I can now find them at MOG chat. I've been there 2-3 times (I haven't been on-line much, as you know), but I plan to become a regular when I get my e-life back. And Neill, it's now 21:17 in Greece :P

I didn't even know there was a link at the bottom right of any page, so thanks for the heads up! *Flux* that's what I've encountered quite a bit lately, no one there. The fact that you just found out about it says volumes too, lol!(not about you though). *Dale*, exactly! Most times it's a desert in there. *Soulrocket*, there are smileys but I had to find out from other moggers how to use them. No instructions as to what's available. If you put your icon on a moggers name you can privately chat w/them though. *Groon* yea there hasn't been alot of publicity about it. I was fortunate to have recieved David's initial posts about it but he & I are trusteds. *Jameson* yea, it's great to chat live w/other moggers in real time(when they're there). *Oatmeal* see what happens when you relocate? lol Welcome back! *Brian1* yes hopefully w/more promotion it will be used more. *Sunshine Daydream* you have to visit more than once to be able to catch other mogger there. *Neill*, I think that's a really great idea. A theme would help stimulate convo but of course you don't have to stick to the theme. And it's 1:51 pst here, hehe. *Hmmm* yea it is fun when there are other moggers there! *David* I think a little more high profile promotion for it would make a big difference. Like I said to Mike, I didn't even know there was a link at the bottom right on any page. I've had trouble finding the ad you've had posted since it's not on every page when I wanted to access the room. Seems alot of people don't know about it. How about a link in the same line where the "Listen - Watch - Read - My Mog - Recommendations" is located since that's where most people look. *Lyla*, where you been girl? The chat room has just happened in the last two weeks(or so, I think). Welcome back!

    amber says I really liked it the first night it was up, but since then, all there was there was a echo of my greeting...all alone, I was. I made a couple of contacts there, got to know a couple of moggers that I hadn't conversed with. Really looked forward to doing more of that, but no one's ever there...i like set times to desend on the room

    Augusts1 says Amber, what worked for me is I was mogmailed by another mogger who wanted to mogchat & we met up there. Prior to that I jumped in around 8 or 9(pst) but then I was on at 1:00 am Sat. night & there were lots of people on then. Iren, that's a good idea too. Having set times that everyone is aware of to chat sounds like it might work well. I liked Neill's idea of streaming a new album in the room as so to have a topic to stimulate convo. I hope David is paying close attention to these comments, lol!

    Augusts1 says B42, I agree. I suggested to David Hyman earlier above to put a link amongst the "Listen- Watch- Read- *Chat*- My Mog - Browse - Recommendations" header at the top of every page. Really I don't use the Browse or Recommendations links at all so one of those could go for all I care. I think that would be obvious enough since everyone uses those links.

    Girlcrawl says There is something unnerving about the idea of 'chatting' with anonymous people that I find a tad frightening, and frivolous - MOG is actually the first 'social-networking' or chat-like internet environment that I've ever participated in, and it doesn't feel 'creepy' the way I would imagine a 'chat room' to; enjoy interacting with fellow moggers as we share such a strong commonality (love of music), but would not feel comfortable disclosing semi-personal info if that were not the case.

I unfortunately don't recall seeing you in the chat room unless it was at a time when there were alot of other moggers in there that I know. Glad you like my page.
