    Rocket
Just received an email from The Bravery's website informing me that they are doing a cover of The Smashing Pumpkins' song "Rocket" for an upcoming tribute cd. You can hear the song on their "myspace":http://www.myspace.com/thebravery page. I'm really liking it since I love both The Bravery & The Smashing Pumpkins! It's a well done cover. The tribute cd is set to be released July 10, '07, so not too far away. It's a myspace.com & Spin magazine sponsored tribute so you can hear all the songs on each contributing band's myspace page. Check out what bands are included: Apparently you can get a free copy of the cd if you purchase the July issue of Spin magazine. I have a subscription so they better be sending me a free cd too!www.myspace.com/smashingpumpkins

  1. Rawkkiddoh says free with purchase, guess I will be getting this issue for sure. I have heard a few of the tracks, and I am liking what I am hearing. Thanks for the heads up about the free music, made my night

  2. Augusts1 says Yea, I think a single issue of Spin is $3.95, or maybe $4.95(it doesn't say on my June issue, they must send subscribers price less covers) but still a steal to get a cd of 10 songs included. *FREE IS A VERY GOOD PRICE!* (or free w/purchase). Yvw for the heads up Tripbro.

  3. chucky says July issue of Spin - check! That was a pretty decent cover. I wonder what the PATD cover sounds like, but my retarded ass can't find their myspace.

  4. Lizziegreeneyes says *Darlin August:*... if it's in the newsstand copy - it will be in yours lest the mailperson (I am so PC) doesn't snag it... you have to keep an eye out for music junkies parading as mailpeople too... I've gotten some really amazing albums thanks to picking up a copy of Hot Press or one of the London Rags... always money well spent !!! Thanks for the up heads ;)

  5. Augusts1 says *Ash*, I guess you're right, lol. I had no problem finding "PATD's":http://www.myspace.com/panicatthedisco myspace page, so there it is for you. They do a live cover of "Tonight, Tonight" that's passable but I'm not too impressed with it. Lizzie, yes music junkies come in all forms! Just cause the newstand copy has a cd doesn't guarantee it will be in w/my subcriber's issue. Corporations have a longstanding tradition of not appreciating their current constituency & pandering to new customers. I hope you're right though or I'll have to write _another_ letter to a magazine editor(not just Esquire).

  12. Augusts1 says Alot of the bands I've not heard of like Gliss, Brainofj. I'm sure that Billy being the egomaniac that he is, is really soaking it in, lol!

  13. Jammy Jeff says I'm glad I changed my subscription from Rolling Stone to Spin. I haven't read RS in 18 months and haven't missed it to be honest. Now I get a free CD with Spin, yippee.

  14. Augusts1 says Yea, I used to get RS years ago but have had a subscription to Spin for about 5 years I think. It's a much better music mag & they cover indie bands too in their reviews which is cool.
