Bonnaroo Wilco Set: Simply Amazing!

Posted over 4 years ago
Goddamn Wilco was simply AH-MAZING on the Bonnaroo Festival simulcast yesterday. Tweedy & Co. play with such adeptness & candor, not to mention complete creativity. They truly create such beautiful artistic music. They played this song below, which I think is my fav song off their new cd although I do love them all. Check it out:Jeff Tweedy is such a master at creating such graphic images in your head. Here is the first verse to the song:Sunlight angles on the wooden floor at dawn,Ceiling fan is on chopping off our dreams,What is left of them I take to sleep again,Where I dare pretend I'm more than I seem.Man, I doubt I would ever come up w/a line like the Ceiling fan one above. Just an amazing song. And all the band members live were so ON! I love watching Nels Cline playing lead guitar. He just f'n *SHREDS* on his guitar. The man has got to be one of the top guitarists out there, I swear. He was just all over his guitar & just made it look so simple!I saw these guys last summer on the Lollapolooza concert simulcast & loved them but this performance was mind blowingly great. So glad I caught it!Here's a live version of "What Light":The White Stripes kicked ass too, as did Wolfmother. Impressed with all three!

  1. B42 says I caught most of the White Stripes and WSP but could not be tied to the puter all day for the others, great stuff but it's a shame AT&T has all the locks on it and so much else.

  2. Augusts1 says Well B42, since I have no life, it's not a problem for me, lol! I started watching part of Bob Weir at around 2 & quit after The White Stripes around 6:30 or so. I just figure if I went to the concert itself I'd be spending far more time than that. And this way I can watch comfortably from my couch & not have to pay exorbitant amounts for food & drink or wait in any lines for anything!!! It is a shame AT&T has locks on it, big corporations suck big time, but what can you do? Free entertainment is a big draw for most people.

  3. B42 says Would've liked to catch Ratdog, seeing them again in a couple of weeks and just can never get enough. Too true on the Free Entertainment draw, bread and circuses indeed.

  4. Rawkkiddoh says One of the best bands I have ever seen live August, Tweedy has a way of making you feel like you are part of the music

  5. jameson says I missed it. I missed Wilco and the White Stripes, which is breaking several, if not all, of Jameson's Ten Commandments. Bur I do get to see Tweedy and Co. next Sunday. Man alive, I'm gonna have a good time!

  6. Augusts1 says B42, I'm not into Bob Weir/Ratdog at all. They played well but I'm not into the style of music. I misread the schedule & w/the time difference I missed The Flaming Lips who I really wanted to see. Tripbro, yes Tweedy does have a very down to earth way about him that makes you feel a part of the music. From what I've seen they do put on quite a show. Jameson, I'm surprised you didn't know about the Bonnaroo simulcast, you're usually up on all this kinda stuff. I found out from Wilco's website when they emailed me a notice since I'm signed up to receive info. by email.

  9. Lizziegreeneyes says Wilco is pure genius no doubt, I also gotta give props to the Jayhawks though... that one is a highlight from my journeys to Summerfest.

  10. Augusts1 says There is no comparison whatsoever to Wilco as far as I'm concerned Lizzie. In fact I consider it sacriligious to even mention their name in the same sentence as Wilco, lol Glad you appreciate & enjoy Wilco though. Of course, to each their own! @= ) (And please don't post any Jayhawks music/vids here either & defile my post thinking you're gonna change my mind, gah!).

  11. Lizziegreeneyes says Dude - I LOVE Wilco... I get a similar happy in me when I listen to the both of them goofball... gosh, a little oversensitive there August... did I strike a nerve ??? Should I take advantage & ask to be reinstated in the Dirrty club, or do I keep posting Jayhawks songs on your posts... ;P

  12. Augusts1 says Dudette, I know you love Wilco. Glad they both make you happy. But that comment came outta nowhere w/"the band who will remain unnamed" hehe. I don't see a comparison whatsoever & consider them to be far inferior to Wilco. I gotta draw the line somewhere ya know & this is it, lmao! *WILCO IS SACRED, SACRED I TELL YOU!* hahaha Actually I don't think there really is another band that even compares to them cause Wilco is just in a class by themselves. You can take advantage all you want but until you prove your worthy of true durrrrrrtiness you won't be reinstated, heh!

  13. Lizziegreeneyes says I loves me some WILCO & I respect your obvious obsession... seems I touched a nerve, cut into said nerve & twisted the knife into the heart of the nerve... Saw them both at Summerfest & had the better experience at the band who shall now remain nameless on your post. Maybe it was the Leinies that night... maybe it was cuz Wilco did not do it for my friend. Only time I've seen either - so I will never compare them in your presence again ;P That said... I have a few valium - you want ;P

  14. Augusts1 says Yea who you see a band with can really change your experience, that's for sure. Leinies? What's that? Yes, you could say I'm obsessed w/ Wilco but I was playing with you more than anything really, no valium necessary my dear!
    Permalink posted 06/18/2007
  15. Lizziegreeneyes says Good... cuz now it's my turn... LEINIE'S how can you NOT KNOW LEINIE'S... it's a brewery in Wisconsin & at Summerfest one of the better watering holes... then again - they have miller everywhere so - Leinie's could literally booty juice & it would still taste better. ;) Yeah, she also wasn't thrilled with Jet & Fuel & Jonny Lang - all sacralicious s'far as I am concerned. She did love Ben Folds though - so she's not all bad - plus she's always willing to go to any show with me - so if I have to suck it up for her every now & again, so be it... Next round of Leinie's is on me August - hatchet all buried & such ;)

  16. chucky says I love that verse you posted! Sometimes I wish I could take all the great lyrics I see or hear and wave a magic wand and have them covered by bands that I like.

  18. Jammy Jeff says Sounds like you had a great time August! Two questions.... Were The White Stripes playing stuff off the new album, and what did it sound like ? Don't you think Wolfmother are way better live than they are on record ? I've seen them twice and they ROCK, but their album didn't really capture the sound for me.

  19. Anonymous says good stuff!!!! & Moggers.... just to let you know, I have sent sunscream a cheery message LOL sunscream ... why??? LMA**O EVERY TIME! :D I think it's great! carry on

  20. Augusts1 says Uh *Lizzie*, why the hell *would* I know Leinies? It's out in bumf'n Wisconsin cow/cheese country which I've not ever been to & highly doubt I'll end up visiting even if the _sexiest woman in the world_ lives there, lol!!! It's certainly not high on my list of places I want to visit. So what kind of music does your friend like? Oh, the band that will not be named for one but she must have some poor ass taste in music. At least she's willing to go w/you to see live music so she's cool in that respect. *Steve* yea, it was webcast "here":http://attblueroom.com/events/coachella.php through AT&T so indie types might have a problem with the big corp. sponsorship but it's free nonetheless. *Ashley* well maybe the good lyrics aren't synonymous w/the type of music you like, hehehe. Ok, I'll just say it for you now: Bite me! lol *Jeff* yes White Stripes did play stuff off of their new album & it sounded just as great as their older stuff. They were so quirky to watch & I found myself laughing throughout their set just from their oddball behaviour - like Meg's strange head movements, Jack's facing the back of the stage while playing his guitar, Jack having a mic placed directly in front of Meg's drumset so he could play & sing looking directly at her, Meg's drum set placed sideways on the left of the stage, etc. Wolfmother was far better live & interesting to watch than listening to their cd. The lead singer/guitarist is quite energetic so it added alot to the music. Definitely has a god complex though since he was raising his hands up above his head in between songs like he was the greatest gift to mankind, lol. *Sunscream* LMAO backatcha. *FP* glad you enjoyed Wilco. Just can't stay away can you? hehehe Have you considered Moggers Anonymous perchance? lol

  23. Anonymous says Yeah August, I was gonna say, maybe you should too :D A Pink Vox? Amp. Your talking about that right?
    Permalink posted 06/19/2007
  24. Augusts1 says Yea, that's what _avatar_ usually means, lol. Thought it was an amp but wasn't sure. Thanks for letting me know.
