WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

"Ima "- BT

Posted over 2 years ago
Good goddess, I can't believe it's been over ten years since BT's debut cd came out in '96. As the saying goes "time flies . . . . " I didn't pick this up until '98 . I was blown away by the gorgeous soundscapes on this album. And, of course, Tori Amos does the vocals on the beautiful track "Blue Skies". I couldn't get enough of this song when I bought the cd. Tori 'n trance, what a combo! This became the hit song but every song is great on this. It's a two disc collection which includes on the 2nd disc a 42 min. 45 sec. electronic opus called "Sasha's Voyage Of Ima" that is an extended remix of most of the songs from the album. Incredible to listen to on a full moonlit night or in a room full of lit candles."Dreaming" from his "ESCM" album(no vids for "Ima" on Youtube & I really looked):ESCM is a great cd as well but "Ima" was my intro. to BT so I still have a soft spot in my heart for it. How many DJ's would have the balls to release a 2 disc debut album? It's amazing & if you've not heard it & you're into dance music it's a classic must hear.BT is Brian Transeau who lives in L.A. and has released 5 studio albums(three of which I own). His last cd came out just last Sept. 2006 along with an accompanying film called "This Binary Universe". He grew up in the Washington DC area & attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA for one year before moving to L.A.http://www.btmusic.com/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Transeau

  8. Augusts1 says Cool Cipher, glad you're enjoying his music. Check out BT's artist lounge or the links to his website or wiki at the bottom of my post for more info. about him. He also did the soundtrack to the movie "Monster" that Charlize Theron won an oscar for a few years back & I think a few other movies as well.

  9. Perpetual Emotion Machine says BT is the dope. I first heard "Dreaming" on a electronica comp and promptly went out and purchased the album. "Ima" was my second purchase, followed by, well, all the rest of them. Most of the music I write now is inspired by his catalog, very full sounding, almost symphonic style. It's addictive really. Just as a point of note BT was the focus of some tumult on the DeviantArt artist community when he was granted a free account a while back to promote his latest work, The rest of the subscribers who had to pay for their account priviledges got PO'ed and some of them actually left. Didn't bother me since I'm not a member lol. But in case you're interested here's his Deviant page which I believe he actually runs himself for the most part: http://bt011010.deviantart.com/

  10. Augusts1 says Very interesting Perp, I didn't realize you wrote your own music. What a great role model to fashion you're work after. Didn't know about the controversy either. Why would they not charge him for an account just cause he's a well known artist?

  11. Perpetual Emotion Machine says { plug } Yeah A1, some of it is on my mog, previews of my entire catalog are now on http://www.perpetualemotionmachine.ca. :) { /plug } As for BT, I dunno why DA did it. This is part of the controversy. It's not like he couldn't afford it... of course a while back he did have all his gear stolen from his studio... so who knows !

  12. Augusts1 says I guess the more money, fame & influence you have the more people are willing to give you stuff for being associated w/their site/co./whatever, is what it really boils down to. I'll check out your music. Thanks for the heads up.
