You Down With O.P.P.? or ISENIH #15

Shockingly, here’s another group that hasn’t had a post written about them. Sheesh, you mogsters aren’t too diligent, lol!Naughty By Nature’s self titled debut came out of left field in '91 w/the HUGE hit “O.P.P.”. I recall the first time I heard & saw this on BET & was mesmerized immediately by the sheer mad catchiness of it. It wasn’t a wonder it became such a big hit, once you heard it you couldn’t get it out of your head!! It soon became so popular that MTV was playing it too. Plus it used a sample of The Jackson Five’s “ABC”.“O.P.P.” Live on Arsenio in’91(boy, Treach is so skinny here! He’s really buff now): It wasn’t till awhile later that I finally paid attention to the lyrics & what they were talking about. See O.P.P. stood for Other People’s Pussy or Other People’s Penis!!!! I laughed so hard when I realized that. So the song is about sexing other people’s girlfriends, wives, hubbys or boyfriends, ie. cheating. Naughty naughty, lol!!!Here’s the other hit off this cd, “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright”: This whole cd is great & catchy as well. Treach has such an amazing flow that he soon became quite famous for his rapping ability(he later did some movies but then a porno too, what a wild guy). Vin Rock was a pretty damn good rapper as well, so they were a deadly combo along with DJ Kay Gee throwing the beats. They’ve put out 5 proper cds & two greatest hits & also a cd in ‘89 as the group The New Style.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naughty_By_Nature

  14. Augusts1 says Oh wow, coming up really quick! I despise moving. I've lived in the same apartment for over 9 years, that's how much I despise moving! Can't believe I've lived here that long. I think it's the longest I've lived anywhere ever!

  15. chucky says 9 years? Wow. I haven't done that since childhood....wait, damn - I'm not entirely sure I managed 9 years in one house even then. I hear you though on the moving thing. Luckily, we gave away almost everything so we have very little to move.

  16. Augusts1 says Yea, I don't think my family managed to live in one house for 9 years. I just counted 7 different houses we lived in until I was 20, so that works out to an average of 2.86 years per house - geezus!!! No wonder I don't like moving!

  19. Lady Miss Ian says Damn! I'm spending all day trying to catch up with my Mog Backlog. Between you and Jammy I'm never going to finish! Ok, now I'm going to be running OPP in my head all day. I was digging the shots of the audience, standing up, shouting out. I'm a sucker for stoopid fun rap. Have you read the book "A Time Before Crack"? I saw it in a record shop in Chicago last weekend, and heard something about it on public radio. I want to pick it up. Seems like it's about the early days of rap, when it was still ok to be innocent and dorky. Before the gangstas showed up.

  20. Augusts1 says Lol, sorry Lady M.I. but we have agendas to attend to - I'm posting about cds in my collection from groups who haven't been posted about(I have a large collection). Jammy is posting his top 500 fav albums. So you best keep up if you've added us as trusteds. Since you've been commenting on my posts I'll add you as a trusted as well since my criteria for adding someone is that they consistently comment on my mog. That also means I will consistently comment on yours too. I haven't heard of that book. It sounds interesting. Let me know how it is once you've read it.
