(Don't You Mess Around With) My Little Anna

I had posted this song on my page over on M & Dale commented that this was his new theme song! This is one of my fav songs by Michelle Shocked cause it's just an incredibly rockin' little song.

If you don't know who Michelle Shocked is I wouldn't be surprised since she's been flying under the wire since '92. Michelle came to the spotlight back in '86 when, unbeknownst to her, "The Texas Campfire Tapes" LP was released in Europe to great acclaim. Some guy had recorded her performance in Texas but didn't get her consent to release it! This recording helped boost sales of her authorized debut "Short Sharp Shocked" in '89 & the single "Anchorage" which gained notoriety. The "Texas" & "Short" releases were a new brand of maverick folk music but Michelle did a total turnabout w/the release of "Captain Swing" which hearkened back to the days of big band/swing music.

Michelle then released a bluegrass cd called "Arkansas Traveller" in '92 which was a celebration of the music that inspired her. She also states that this was the last of a trilogy of albums & influences. After this cd release it seemed she disappeared.

Michelle started having problems w/her record company & the rights to her music. So she foot the bill for her own recordings after this & sold her cds at her shows or on her website. She's been steadily making her own music over the years under the radar.

I've seen her twice live & she was just phenomenal. She had so much fun & exuded so much joy in performing it was just infectious. You can't help but have a blast at a Shocked concert!

So, in honor of Dale & Anna's bro/sis friendship, I dedicate this song to you two.

I recall a certain EMCDing muppet trying to get people hooked on that one group you just discovered, which I can't recall their name now, but who sound like The Clash, The Ramones & The Replacements. And Dale, guys can hug too! You just made SUCH a big distinction between hugging Anna & high fiveing me I HAD to say something about it, hehe.
