YOU CAN'T NOT GET NO SATISFACTION

Ok, I Know You Are Sick Of The Treadmill Vid But Hear Me Out

Posted over 2 years ago
Alright, I know everyone is sick of the two vids/songs by Ok Go w/the dance routines & treadmills(I still love them though). But there is a reason why they've become so popular. And not just because they've been on You Tube. Shhhhh! The secret is-- Great Songwriting! There are some amazing other songs on the cd "Oh No" that are as good or BETTER than the two vid/dance routine songs. And here is my fav song on the cd w/it's vid to prove it:It's a f'n rockin' song, no? But the lyrics are obscured by the distorted vocals so you can't truly hear the great songwriting, so here are the lyrics in part:"When they finally come to destroy the earth, they'll have to come through you first, I bet they won't be expecting that. When they finally come to destroy the earth, they'll have to deal with you first, and my money says they won't know about the thousand Fahrenheit hot metal lights behind your eyes. Invincible. You're Invincible. That crushing, crashing, atom-smashing, white hot thing . . . It's Invincible!"I love the super hero imagery as he talks about how his lover can't be controlled or destroyed & how she dominated him as well. It's just such a damn catchy song but efficient! All the other songs on the cd are great & I was going to load an mp3 of my other fav song called "Oh, Lately It's So Quiet" but Mog wouldn't upload the entire song(I think my puter is just tired from mogging so much today). Suffice it to say it has great imagery as well as it talks about a lover who's left and he wonders who's house she's haunting now. It's a gorgeous little gem of a song that will get overlooked by the masses who just think Ok Go makes goofy, choreographed vids. So maybe tomorrow after I get up I'll try uploading the song again cause it's really worth hearing. Keep yours ears peeled!

  2. lemontwist says I love OK Go. :) The coolest thing is that they show the footage of the objects blowing up (and also in reverse so it looks like they're reassembling) as their backdrop when they play Invincible in concert. They're such an awesome band. So much energy, they're not uptight, just having lots of fun. It's too bad people pass them off as sell outs just because they use YouTube as a promotion tool. Oh, and Damian Kulash is undeniably hot, which doesn't hurt. :)

  3. Rawkkiddoh says I agree, having a catchy video does not have staying power unless the song is pretty good. While the videos of them dancing are brilliant, the music makes it so watching them over and over doesnt become tiresome.

  4. sidepocket says There's no doubt that these guys had an amazing 2006. And they rightfully milked it for all it was worth. Hopefully they won't fade away like so many have in the past. P.S. Nice blog, August, it's Steve from http://mydemoralization.blogspot.com I figured I owed you a few posts. Good to see you finally have a blog.

  6. QueenofHell says Very cool. It's a bit weird watching the video without the dance routines.

  7. Augusts1 says I suppose so if that's all you're used to, but Ok Go is far more than a mere dance troupe, lol!!! That's just what shot them to stardom.
