Track:Beloved One Live
If you haven't already heard by now the stunning voice of Lou Rhodes, then you've been missing out majorly! Lou Rhodes was the lead singer in a Manchester electronic group called Lamb. They started out in the mid '90s as a drum n' bass genre group but managed to rise above that tag and encompass numerous styles under the electronic genre. Lamb was a fabulous dance band & Lou Rhodes always lead the way with her beautiful and unusual vocal styling. Sadly, Lamb wasn't ever too popular here in the U.S. and never made it over here to play live.In 2005 Lamb broke up so Lou and bandmate Andy could pursue their own endeavors. Early last year, in fact one year ago today(how weird is that?), Lou released her very first solo cd 'Beloved One' on her own label Infinite Bloom Recordings. It is a very intimate, passionate & organic cd with lots of acoustic guitar and stringed instrument flourishes. Some would call it contemporary folk, but I just call it wonderful. Surprisingly, the album is quite upbeat lyrically and musically and is always a great listen. Here is a vid clip of Lou in concert, which gives you a great impression of her style. It's also incredible how similar this live performance is to the recorded version of the title track off her cd. Check out the vid, you won't be sorry! And here is my first intro to Lamb, the wildly off the wall vid & song to "B-Line":Once I saw & heard it I was hooked! Oh & here is the site link to Infinite Bloom Recordings if you should want to check out Lou Rhodes any further(and why wouldn't you?):http://www.infinitebloom.com/main.php
