After seeing Friendly Fires on several of my trusteds year end lists but especially on Poebegone's post(http://mog.com/poebegone/blog/279616), I finally checked them out further. I listened to their self titled debut album just now and damn, damn, damn it's JUMPIN' good! You can't help but move to this. Check out red button song 'On Board' above and the video below.
'Paris':
I had a hard time deciding what song to upload, each song is so great on this. They remind me quite a bit of an updated Talking Heads but there's also some traces of Pere Ubu and Paul Simon. There's more influences in there but I'll need to listen to this more to parse them out. So I've been EMCDed! Wish I'd heard this before I made my year end list. That'll teach me to do mine early, haha.

I haven't listened to them at all either...too much new music, too many current obsessions, too little time in the day.

Aug, i can't stop laughing over how you tagged this post with On Board. the humor in that is seriously wacky. i agree, i love every single song in the album. not one track on there is a throwaway. i am waaay glad you dig it, wheee.

I think you'd really enjoy them since they incorporate alot of percussion & remind me of Talking Heads quite a bit. Come to the dark side Sam!
