Seems the guys in Hot Chip are having an overload in testosterone lately. They've done a couple of covers lately that are pretty cool, or at the very least 'interesting'. First up is the Marvin Gaye classic 'Sexual Healing' on which they don't try to outdo the original, just reinvent it to a certain extent in all it's jittery glory.

I think HC's version eclipses the original & has more balls(I wonder why, haha). Sorry to post the vid but I don't have the Shakira original song since I'm not much of a fan:

You know I was getting scared to listen to the Marvin Gaye cover because Sexual Healing is one of my favorite MG songs EVA but I LOVE their rendition. I want to pinch Hot Chip's cheeks. Thank you thank you! xo
Also thank you for sharing the cover of Shakira's song, She Wolf. I'm not familiar with her version but I enjoyed the Hot Chip flavor. He he. (I have her 1st album but I didn't listen to it that much : X)

Aug, you are spot-on. that cover is sexy but did not try to be in the same league as the original, nor try too hard in general. good thinking, Hot Chip! PL, although i had that one HC album, i must thank you for two others ... getting the bigger picture really made me realize they're a better band than i first thought.
Thx & yvw for the HC, PL. They really are a great band. I saw them perform at Coachella in '08 & then again this year on the Coachella webcast(I couldn't afford to go this year), Both times they put on an amazing show although in person it was more fun since they really got the crowd moving. I danced my ass off & the heat the crowd made from dancing was palpable.
aw sorry to hear you missed Coachella and the gang this year, dear. i dance my ass off while listening to HC by myself, who knows what else i'll dance off if they're right in front of me? (;
