ALL Goldfrapp Albums Now $5.00 Each!!!!(I Sound Like An Eff'n Commercial)

Posted over 2 years ago

Just downloaded Goldfrapp's album 'Black Cherry' for $5.00 on Amazon.com. ALL their MP3 albums are $5.00, not sure for how long. It may just be a Thanksgiving Special they're running. I dunno. I had to let my mog fam know about this fantastic deal though! EVERY single, ep, or remix album, $5.00 or less(except for 'Seventh Tree'(Deluxe Edition) which is more). Amazing amazonian deal!

Thank you. That is all. . . .

I like to check them now and then for these and for freebies.  Usually it's about fifty @ $5 each but this is big big news!  Thanks!

This is a very interesting cut.  The whole sweep of it, her singing and the little things that go on within the sound.

Spike they have 500@$5 for the holiday which is TEN times better!

This song is fantastic. I'd recommend the whole album. It has that '60s spy movie soundtrack sound through much of it, although they do diversify enough to keep it fascinating. It's an aural orgy! Glad you enjoyed it's complexity.

Kev I'm surprised you don't like Goldfrapp. Amazon does have 500 other albums for $5 for your perusal, check out this link.

Ilay Black Cherry IS awesome. And I only had a cd single of the song 'Black Cherry' that had 5 songs, 3 remix versions of BC & 2 other songs as well as some extra videos only accessed by puter. So I hadn't heard the whole album till I heard the samples yesterday. I basically thought most of the cd was like BC so I wasn't motivated to buy it since I thought it was slow.  So glad I finally listened to the whole thing.

I can't stand it!  I wrote a lengthy comment and when I hit the publish button, Mog made me sign in again and went to a black screen.  Well, here goes:

I went to Amazon yesterday and picked up Maggot Brain, a free Gentle Giant EP, Middle Cyclone (Neko Case - two bucks), Ray (Charles) Sings Basie (Orchestra) Swings, Budos Band II and a great free classical compilation with complete symphonies, not just excerpts (Marin Alsop conducts Brahms 3!) Fela Kuti's Zombie was on sale a few days ago and I scooped that up, then.

I've been listening to Goldfripp all this time and I wish I could choose something from the many albums on sale.  I don't usually listen to (I'll call it) space music but I'm enjoying the listen.  (Frankly, as long as I have the Mog player, I might not have to buy.)  But I might want to choose something to keep and take with me away from the computer.  You say the version of Seventh Tree they are offering for $5 is not the "Deluxe Edition"?

Right now, I'm getting ready for a trip to Baltimore's The True Vine Record Shop to meet my nephew (on a rare visit from New Haven, Conn.).  My main quest is "Cambodia Rocks" and other items in that vein.  Also, maybe another Anatolian rock compilation.  Who knows, when you go to the True Vine?

Spike, I think most of us regular moggers have had that disappearing act happen to us on mog at one or more times over the years. I now make sure to highlight & 'copy' my comment before I publish & if it doesn't publish then I paste it in an email to save for publishing later. You can also do this using your word processor too. It's very frustrating though! I feel your pain . . . .

Wow, you are just the happy little consumer aren't you?(haha) That's alot of music you've picked up, very cool, glad I could turn you onto those deals! The Deluxe version of 7th Tree is only a 2 song difference & is not worth the $4.49 price increse since one song is an insrumental of the album version & another is a live version of one of their early songs. So if you are so inclined just go w/the regular release of 7th Tree if that's the one you are drawn to.

I'll look again and see if the dals are still there.  I couldn't get Cambodia Rocks at The True Vine, but I did score a killer compilation of Siamese rock, a psychedelic album guaraneed to melt your brain and send it oozing out your ears and an item called The Hillbilly Band From Mars, which is really like an alternate Hank Williams from the late 40s and early 50s.  Will Post.

Most of the composing woes have to do with cutting and pasting, and often occur when pasting in from word and cutting and pasting within a comment or post.  The Anatolia Rocks post took forever.  (Compatability View.  I had it defeated before under the tools menu, but after my reformat, I haven't been able to do that.)   I sent a question to Support.  This black screen thing is new to me.

Alright, thanks for the update. Asian rock has gained considerable popularity over the past few years, like it didn't even exist before, lol. I've not gotten into it much since most of what I've heard(which hasn't been much) doesn't seem too original or groundbreaking. I'm not speaking for the entire genre mind you, just what I've heard.

Long posts can get quite complex especially when you have numerous links to other pages & I have to check to make sure they work properly. Cutting & pasting from word hasn't been a problem but I don't do it that much anyway.

I wanted to post the Siamese thing right away, but I've found that I need more listening and reading time to do a good review.  Was going to just post, but it deserves a review.

I didn't appreciate a lot of rock music from other ethnic cultures because of that problem you mentioned.  It seems so deriviative.  But now, I view it in a different light.  It's fun to recognize the borrowed or imitated elements and hear how these other people adopted this music and made it their way.  I still do not like the "tourist music" that is presented as local culture made palatable for visitors.  Funny.  In the US and UK, we adopt other ethnic musics and they weave into our musical fabric.  How does that look to them?  I recall when I was sellig hifi gear in the early 70s, a Caribbean gent came in and heard me playing a calypso style steel drum cut from John Sebastian's "The Four Of Us", and how he smiled condescendingly (but kindly), pointing out that he preferred Reggae, as on that Paul Simon number.

Agreed, I see your point. I have the unfortunate malady of needing to hear 'new' sounds in music so I'm always looking for something different. Granted, alot of new music incorporates the old styles & influences but I like to hear music that is going in a different direction than what I'm used to hearing. I guess Asian rock just doesn't do it for me from what little I've heard. I'm sure if I investigated long enough I'd find an Asian band that did do it for me. But there is an abundance of music available to me so I'm not motivated to check the genre out further.

I must say though I do love a Japanese band by the name of Yukari Fresh, who Fistula Spume introduced me to awhile back but alot of their music is import only & expensive to buy. Yukari Fresh incorporates numerous styles & is pretty kitschy but quite fun. So they are an exception for me.

I look forward to your Siamese post.
