This is my favorite song off her new album so far. I saw her perform this live at the Harmony Festival June '07 and she rocked the house with it! Such a interesting, minimal sound to the song, I'm just diggin' it.
Here's a short video interview with Ms. Badu about the challenges of making her new cd. Quite interesting to hear her perspective.
I will get my hands on this album ASAP ... leave it to you August, to remind me of our other greeneyed girl :)

Well. I'm surprised. I like this, its way outside my usual territory but as you say the production values set this up beautifully. Minimalist? Naw, uncluttered with extraneous distractions. Very nice.
I'm rather surprised too Deadman! Just goes to show that great music has no boundaries. I guess I meant the song is minimalist in comparison to her other songs on this album. Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for the comment.

August. Ha. I did not realize how loud my volume was...my lights flickered when that bass kicked in. Plus it scared the shit out of me. That video was hard to hear what she was saying with the music playing in the background. (the reason my volume was up so loud....I am sure that was part of your menacing plan)

Innit? When I saw her perform it she was far more animated & didn't have the big ass hair. Maybe she was more lively cause she didn't have the big hair weighing her down, haha.
