WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

It's Christmas Time Again With Goldfrapp

Posted about 1 year ago
I had seen in the music news section a day or so ago that there was a new video out for Goldfrapp's song "A&E" but when I went to check out the post, the video was no longer available, damnit! So being the enterprising young man that I am I did a search on Youtube. Unfortunately, I found not the desired video but did find this lovely holiday greeting from the band that is just too hilarious. Apparently it was posted on their website prior to xmas. Have a looksee:Gotta love it! This just makes me love Goldfrapp even more in all their goofy splendour! And here's an alternate take of the song:OH & I discovered this on the Goldfrapp website message board too:It's a student art film from 1988 by a Paul Gilbert starring Alison Goldfrapp, and a James Clyde(?) & Simon King(?). Freaky, funny stuff as well. You can see the rest of it on Youtube, just doubleclick on the vid & you'll see the rest of the vids off to the right hand side. Enjoy!

  2. Augusts1 says Yea, like for starters her joke about thanking the fans for "the operation", which is apparently a reference to people who've said she's had plastic surgery, lol. Touche!

  6. Lady Miss Ian says Nice flat absurdism. Very art school. Reminds me of old 80s punky/diy cable access stuff. Is it me or does Allison look a little like a cross between Twiggy and Cindy Lauper?

  7. Sam The Artist says i love how she can still dance all sexy in a huge white "i dont know what" costume. and through the kazoo you can still hear her beautiful voice.

  9. Augusts1 says *Lizzie* I'm surprised you've not heard of them before. Goldfrapp is a fabulous electronic oriented group from England & the lead singer Alison has a pure voice made of gold! But these vids are just silliness & nothing like their proper songs. Once you have heard some of their proper songs or heard Alison's voice live you will be *hooked*! Go to their artist lounge & do some investigating, it's worth the effort: http://mog.com/music/Goldfrapp *Dach* coming from the NWW maven I'm shocked that Goldfrapp aren't part of your musical palette since so much of what they draw upon is '80s new wave inspired. Oh well, maybe someday you'll get on the train, lol. *Sunny D* I'm not the one taking those 'shrooms dearie, you should have a talk w/Alison & Co. *LMI* yup, definitely absurdist art school, diy cable access fo sho! Hmmm not thought of the comparison of Twiggy & Lauper, that might just be you dear, heh. *Anna* why thank you dear niecey-poo, I knew this would be right up your alley! I guess some of us just know witty art when we see it eh? haha

  10. Augusts1 says *Sam* that's definitely a bunny suit & yes it's amazing how she can make even that big ol' thing look sexy! I love the lyrics too "Oh the baby jesus, he's not just a fetus." hahahahaha

  11. Mike the Knife says Dat's killa, mon. Alison can do no wrong by me. And Lizzie should listen to "Utopia" and "Lovely Head" and "Strict Machine" and "Train" and "Ooh La La" before she dismisses Goldfrapp.
