Well it finally happened. I got to meet the woman of my adoration! It was quite the experience too. But first, the preshow deets. We(Annieander, her friend Sherri & I) arrived early to make sure the tix/passes were at will call. They were not, so fortunately I had Paul's number and I called him and he made things happen. So thanks to him we got in but it wouldn't have happened w/o his phone number & his help! Then Brittany(from Mog.com fame) met us and we made our way into The Warfield.
Janelle Monae opened and she did her best Outkast imitation and impressed us with her incredible voice and crazy stage antics. She was truly mesmerizing for such a new talent.

Then Erykah came out and put on an amazing 2 plus hour set. She did old and new songs(but nothing from her forthcoming album 'Return Of The Ankh'). Her performance was dominated by 'New Amerykah Part One: Fourth World War' and she started out with 'Amerykhan Promise', the funky album opener. And some of my favorites such as The Healer, Danger, Love Of My Life, Tyrone, On & On & Green Eyes Suite. She did some incredible vocal acrobatics that kept me mesmerized throughout and she even did an interpretive dance that was fun to watch(replete w/a gold sequined thong underneath her skirt that she wasn't afraid to show off, haha). During her performance of 'Back In The Day' she launched into a cover of Whodini's 'Friends' midsong and then NWA's 'Gangsta Gangsta'. Erykah was definitely in rare form!

She did a 3-4 song encore as well which surprised me that she went on for so long.
After the show we even got two set lists, thanks to Annie, one from the stage & one from the sound guys.

I sure was Mike, I sure was & did! And Erykah was very down to earth & gracious(I meant to say that in the post but got sidetracked). Thanks for your previous advice on how to go about talking to her, it helped quite a bit. She's just a regular joette, albeit an extremely talented one!
