WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT

In Honor Of My Butt Pirate Friend @ ; ) A Funk Of Sorts Or ISENIH #32

(Thanks Lizzie for the reminder of the 'butt pirate' phrase, hehe)After the ensuing comments on this post "*here*":http://mog.com/blog_post/view/106373#comment-414252 I just couldn't resist posting this hysterical song that is funky in it's own twisted way(warning, dirty words, dirty words, hehe):I love me some King Missile since they are just so out there yet right on target when it counts. My favorite line is "I have no problem with out gay men, it's the men who don't know they're gay who fuck my shit right up!" Word!King Missile just make some funny, kitschy avant-garde rock that really defies description. I have a few of their cds that I love. They are best known for their song "Detachable Penis" & "Martin Scorcese" but the song I posted definitely has gained them a bit of notoriety as well for obvious reasons.John S. Hall is the lead "singer" who is a warped & twisted genius. His spoken word poems/prose/lyrics/songs are intelligent with a weird edge to them. He's right there on the verge of crazy yet brilliant. At least they were able to make some albums(9 to be exact) to unleash John's kind of crazy on the world. The video for "Martin Scorsese":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/King_Missile

Give me a day or so & I'll post it on M for ya. I don't have the album "Gay/Not Gay" is on, just this song. I'll surprise ya w/my choice.

Ya know there are definately days when I'd like to be able to detach my penis, sheesh! "Detachable Penis" & "Martin Scorsese" are on "Happy Hour".

  9. Max Load says Oh. I like this. Alas, King Missile not on my low budget music provider's list. But there is a whole bunch of Lou Reed stuff that is slightly reinvigorated from hearing this. Thanks.

  10. Augusts1 says Yvw Max, glad you enjoyed the songs. Too bad your provider can't do their job very well. I'm sure King Missile were influenced by Lou & VU quite a bit.

  11. zoot says haha, i've heard of KM3 before. but never actually heard their music before now. i like the 'my heart is a flower' video... and, i'd be interested in checking out more of their tunes. their wiki site says that jane scarpantoni was a former member, of the band ... and she's one of my favorite people/musicians.

  12. Augusts1 says Well I'll be posting some KM3 on M over the w/e Zoot. Not heard of Jane before, what type of music does she do?
    Permalink posted 08/24/2007
  13. zoot says I look forward to that, Aug. Jane Scarpantoni is a cellist, who has played with lots of musicians over the years. Her "wiki page":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jane_Scarpantoni barely lists all of the records that she has appeared on...not to mention, the live gigs around town, where she often sits in with lesser known artists.

  14. Max Load says I get what I'm prepared to pay for. :-)
Some Lou Reed going up on my Mog now.

  16. TroyPowers says Gay/Not Gay. So, is taking a photo of a man in a thong gay if there is a woman in the photo with him?
    Permalink posted 08/24/2007
  17. Augusts1 says *Zoot*, cool I'll check out her wiki thanks for the linkage. *Max* yes that old adage is true in many instances(but not always). I'll come check out your Lou post. *LGE* life is good w/songs like these, hehe. But yes, of course EB is still up! Go for it. *Troy* since you have obtained butt pirate status I'd say hell yeaz! But then again, the whole POINT of the picture was the guy in the thong, not the woman, hehe.

  18. mktackabery says I love this song August, thanks for reminding me about it. I love "watching pornography alone is neutral." What I love about this guy is the deadpan delivery, that is what seals the funny for me.
    Permalink posted 08/25/2007
  19. Augusts1 says So true M, his delivery is what really makes it. The fact that he's able to do it in a totally serious tone, which I have no idea how he could(I couldn't w/o laughing), gives it that extra umph of sarcasm!
