Few words can describe this, so just watch:I finally saw this movie from 1984. *Wow, just wow*. What a classic & such gorgeous scenery & cinematography. Everything about this movie is stunning. The cast, the director Wim Wenders, Sam Shepard's script, the acting and of course the music.Ry Cooder did the soundtrack and if you watched the clip above you get a great idea of what the rest of the music sounds like. It amazingly graces the movie with it's sparse yet majestic sounding steel guitar. Ry is quite a master and although I've not been much of a fan his music here just perfectly fits the minimalism of the images & dialogue. Amazing music to an amazing film.In many ways this movie reminds me of "The Man Who Fell To Earth" which I posted about not long ago with David Bowie. Harry Dean Stanton is the main character in "Paris, Texas". Both movies start with a single man roaming the desert. In essence both men are aliens in the world, adrift, disoriented and feeling so out of place. Both movies start out in the desert and then move into big cities. Both men never quite fit in. Both movies have a similarly slow pace. Not a film for everyone though since it does linger much and the dialogue is minimal until close to the end. It is an art film that slowly builds and allows the actors to show their character's arc. But it's worth watching if you enjoy these types of movies or enjoy Ry Cooder's music. Many favorite scenes throughout and I've watched it twice so far and may watch it again before returning it to the library. Here's one of the best scenes, but is a spoiler if you haven't seen the movie(it's 10 mins. long as well, but worth seeing just for Nastassja Kinski's performance):
