This Desert Floor Has A Way of Keeping Us Here

Posted over 5 years ago
Never before has someone from Arizona put out a song that really encapsulates what it's like to be in your twenties, comfortable and miserable with the scenery, all at once. Also having been born, bored, and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, I feel like this song is sometimes a soundtrack to my love/hate relationship for my hometown. No matter how much I love my life here, with friends and family to complete the picture, I yearn for what else is out there. Even if you aren't from here, this is also just a really great song, peaceful in a melancholy way at certain moments, then anxiously loud and frustrated. The heavier riff reminds me of Cursive. Knowing Jeff and Chris (guitarists + vocalists) are big fans of everything Tim Kasher, that is definitely a compliment.

  1. Kate says You described this song beautifully. I'm going to go listen to it now. I love some of the music that comes out of Arizona, and the sunset picture you posted reminds me so much of the smog-sunsets I grew up with in L.A. Now there's a love/hate relationship for ya!

  2. Justin Newell says I've gotta say that even though I'm not from Phoenix, I love this song.
