MOG MOG

WHERE E=MC HAMMER

(1)

I'm going to repeat myself now, but I want the Bubblegum Lemonade MOG entry to have this info! :) Twin posts, I've never done this before heheh

"Lawrence "Laz" McLuskey is a Glasgow-based multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, who currently plays in two C86 -influenced bands, Strawberry Whiplash and Bubblegum Lemonade.

While Sandra sings and Laz plays the instruments in Strawberry Whiplash, Bubblegum Lemonade is primarily a solo project in which Laz provides the vocals as well.

Both Strawberry Whiplash and Bubblegum Lemonade released their debut records on Jimmy Tassos' Matinee Records earlier this year, Strawberry Whiplash with the 'Who's in Your Dreams CDEP ' and Bubblegum Lemonade with 'Ten Years Younger CDEP '".

I hope you have your dream pop hats on and are holding your "we heart twee pop" banners high up, 'cause you are about to drink some sonical pink lemonade.

Now this one i like; to be honest, it puts me in mind of some of the less-typical Monkees tracks - the nes they sneaked on the LPs after they cut the Mandatory Hit Single...

I should have gone hunting through my vast liobrary before i clicked "Publish" on that last one.

It's not so much that it sounds like it but that it reminds me somehow...

(This is petty well guaranteed to be one ot the Monkees' lesser-known tracks...)

I'm liking this! Sugary Meringue to Glasvegas's vomited whisky....

This one works better for me... lemonade usually gives me heartburn... this is going down much more smoothly, must be the added bubblegumminess !!!

Anna says:

Cheers for that, Robin! Whether you believe it or not, I actually found out about this compilation when I researched these guys!

I've never heard that Monkees' tune before, Mike! I bet your library has many gems. "It's not so much that it sounds like it but that it reminds me somehow" I think I understand what you mean by that. And it happens to be a sense that I enjoy tremendously :)

Glad you approve, Neill! We covered both Scottish flavours today, eh? I always thought I'm a whisky (mandatory) - vomit (not mandatory...) kind of gal, but I guess we all have sugary moments :)

hehe Lizzieness :) A new sonical recipe made up by Laz and served by me, for your ears only :*

Liking the extra keyboard touches, but I've got such a soft spot for this kind of music.

Don't care for this nearly as much as SW, maybe it's the production quality or the male vocal, not sure exactly but thanks for the opportunity to hear it niece.

Yup, sounds quite a bit like C86 married the Darklands -era JAMC.

Grand idea. Bubblegum Lemonade could be the perfect score for a lazy afternoon at the terrace of a French café, sipping a Diabolo menthe (Green mint syrup in lemonade)

This is a'ight, but I like the strawberry one better, have to admit. This one lacks the crunch I find so important in my pop.

Hmmm. Bubblegazer Shoe-ade? Delish!

So most of you like your twee pop with a strawberry on top, eh? Interesting! I think I actually like this one better....not sure....I'll have to think about it while sipping my Diabolo menthe :)
