WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

The Brightest Shadow

Posted over 2 years ago
There are certain songs that just ooze brilliance. They make you lose words & fill your head with images. This is one of mine. Take a piece of catharsis, dip it in sweet-tasting tears, spray it with sparks & harmony, add a hint of heart-warming melancholy and you'll get the taste. This is a video with a live version of it. I shudder just by the very thought of experiencing this song live."You can get it here.":http://annazrk.multiply.com/music/item/659?mark_read=annazrk:music:659

  1. Dale says I have a shameful confession to make: I only have a smattering of DJ Shadow, and most definitely not the Endtroducing album. That was soooooo gorgeous.

  3. Anna says No worries, bro. I have this album on a cassette (yes, cassette) & recently acquired its digital form. Never too late. Gorgeous, indeed....it makes me tongue-tied every single time I spin it...

  4. Spike says I like your description of it. One of the cool things about the track is the keyboard sound that comes in at about the 3:50 mark.

  10. five-four says A wonderful song to introduce the rest of the album. It kind of sets the mood for what you're about to hear. "Organ Donor" is also noteworthy.

  11. Anna says Nice one, L! Organ Donor you say...... (one of my favourites) (I have to see him live before I die)

  12. Lester Jonze says Word to that, here's a double shot of DJ love. Song is my favorite of _Entroducing_. Vid is more from that disc.

  16. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says I remember seeing him live in Copenhagen when the album had just come out. Suddenly he stops and says: "You know.........you may dance. You don't have to just stand there looking at me". I believe people just kept staring.

  17. Augusts1 says Wow, Anna, no wonder you're my Niece! I LOVE DJ Shadow! I got turned onto him when "The Private Press" came out, then p/u "Endtroducing" & then his collabo w/ James Lavelle in UNKLE. Amazing stuff! I just love the atmosphere he creates w/his turntable, he's just incredible. And he's lives in Marin County(just N. over the Golden Gate Bridge) which is about 45 mins. from where I live! With all that said, I'd have to agree w/Jeff, his older cds eclipse his latest one although it's probably more at a level of others best, it's not his best.

  18. five-four says Thanks for the video to "Organ Donor" It's so WEIRD to think you're the only one who super-admires a song, then you see the video for it. Some songs are going to be universal hits, no matter what.

  19. Lord Alfreston says Entroducing is one of those all time classic albums and is definitely in my all time top ten. You may not play it for a while but you'll always come back to it. I got it when it first came out but also got the excellent deluxe version recently with a whole load of different version on an extra CD. I've only played it once but it's kind of comforting knowing it is there!

  20. Anna says Very cool, Lester, very cool. And 2046 was such a great film.... Glad to see you on the Shadow board, Jeff! Lizzie, thank you so much1 :* You are one classy lady. That Cinematic Orchestra song is bloody fantastic. Mesmerizing. I think you will like this one from DJ Shadow as well: FlowerPower, funny you say that, because most of his songs give me that feeling. It's like a sonic film. Henry, really? Odd. I'd dance. I'd dance like a madwoman. Uncle August, you have to stalk him! five-four, you're very welcome. I know what you mean, I've had that feeling before. Organ Donor was one of the first of his songs I ever heard and it has a special place in my mind (I would say "heart", but that's occupied at the moment :) ) I'm with you on the top ten, Lord Alfreston. The fact that we keep coming back to it says more than words can say. And every time I go back, I discover something new. It just doesn't get old for me.

  23. Me and the Horse I Rode In On says Haha. Well..............I still can't get over the fact that we can't use the name FETA CHEESE anymore. You people can be so mean and cold.

  30. chucky says I was talking about the song. After I posted I realized that it could sound like a response to you but it wasn't. But, now that we talking about it, there could be a fly on the wall aspect that *would* be mesmerizing.

  33. ciphermedia says Thanks Anna. (You are having an electronic resurgence aren't you...) Can I just say how much I luuuurve DJ Shadow. And in answer to your question talyspin, I reckon Private Press. More variety, and a bit more weird-arse.

  34. Anna says Hehe Mike, you should be really proud! What are they feeding you down there and you are all so charismatic? :) Glad you think so, lady Ashley :) And I wouldn't want to be invisible (yes, I know that no one asked me haha), but I would like to be able to read people's minds. Mwuahaha Woo hoo, Daniel in da house! :D Sunscream, word. ;) Taylspin, your boy is fabulous :) I don't know which the best album is, but my favourite one is Endtroducing..... :) You're welcome, Jonathan. Electronic resurgence, more than you can imagine! My heart beats with beats :)

  35. TBoom says Great song. I think being able to read people's minds would be kind of noisy, especially in the subway.
