Lemon Jelly

""Lemon Jelly":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemon_Jelly is a British electronica (Downbeat, Trip Hop, BrainDance, IDM, Electronic Music, Electronica) duo consisting of Nick Franglen and Fred Deakin. Years active: 1998 - present".Most of their vids are a feast for the eyes. You can check them out "here.":http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=lemon+jelly&search=SearchTheir song Nice Weather For Ducks seems to be popular amongst MOGgers. I'm trying to remember what I youtube-d and stumbled into this, but alas, I can't (I'm quite certain that I was not looking for ducks though). It's basically a catchy feel good song that makes you go la la la & has an interesting sonic twist at 1:15.I'm more intrigued by The Shouty Track though, that is a bit threatish (it's a word):"Official site.":http://www.lemonjelly.ky/index.html"Myspace page.":http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=118705764

  1. Dale says Ah, "The Shouty Track" is much more my speed. Not bad at all. And I loved the video, so funny!

  2. Anna says Yup, mine, too. It's good, I will try to find their album. I've been video brainwashed. But it's not my fault, they're all so puuuurty. I like purty.

  3. cbowers says Yeah, I definitely like the shouty track more. Threatening? Perhaps, but it's loads more fun and less scissor sisters than it's counterpart. Like a scrappier, punker (it's not a word) version of Gorrilaz with lousier production but quirkier animation. My day is officially kicked off. Thanks for posting this, Anna.

  4. Pop Savant says I love this band...I was a bit dissappointed by their third album, but the first two are amazing...especially with headphones on.

  5. ciphermedia says Oooh Anna! I'm such a Lemon Jelly fan. I've never got around to looking for their clips so this post is much appreciated - great clips too. You seem to be posting more electronic music lately - much more my style. Are you veering away from the guitar hero, rock pig stuff? :)

  7. Anna says Gorrilaz, huh? Though LJ predate them & they are more electronic (based on what I've heard so far, that is), you do have a point there, dear Casey. My pleasure; in the words of Morphine, have a lucky day :) Mark, for the love of Kapranos, you know everything! :) Excellent, Jonathan! I take it that you and Mark (Pop Savant) totally recommend them then! Their videos are just finger lickin' good.... Hehe I know, and I've been hearing more as well. I was into this type of music for 2 years, and now it seems to be making a revival in my head :) More Lemon Jelly, courtesy of the MOGger of the month!

  14. SatisfiedMind614 says Anna facts of the day: MC Hammer learned the hard way that Anna can, in fact, touch this. Anna doesn't play hide and seek, she plays 'Hide and pray I don't find you'

  22. mktackabery says thanks Anna, I like the jelly-meisters too but I had never seen a single video by them. I am woefully ignorant on the videos. Perhaps because, oh, I dunno, they never play videos in the states except the dead of night on gaming stations on cable? arrggggh.

  23. TroyPowers says The duck song sounds like something my daughter would come home from day care singing. Maybe I'll give it a couple spins for her.

  24. Augusts1 says Love the Shouty song/vid, tff! A coworker tried to turn me onto these guys 4 years ago or so after I turned him onto Thievery Corporation & whatever the cd was of there's it was way too bland. No comparison to Thievery Corp. who I ADORE! Sounds like they have beefed up there sound since I last heard of them.

  26. Mike the Knife says "Ducks..."! So very good! And, of course, I have a deadly mash-up built around it. Only it's fused to Enya, so - due to Enya-phobia in some parts of the MOG-iverse - I shall keep it under wraps for now. But, when you least expect it...

  29. Lord Alfreston says Hey If you want to check out where the Lemon Jellies heads are at check out Fred Deakin's recent Triptych mix CD. As Fred says in the great album notes which details the meaning of each track to him "So what is this? It isn't a full on dance set, clearly, nor is it a cool background mix for dinner parties and the like - too many surprises for that. Ultimately it's an attempt to put more than 20 years of vinyl addiction into one package and create the ultimate Fredmix" And what a mix that is with everything you could possible imagine thrown in punk, ska, 60s garage, breakbeat, swing, crooning, techno, Bernard Cribbens, rap, folk, country, protest songs, Krautrock, American rock, torch songs, pop, electronica, French crooners, British folk gospel, BBC Radiophonic workshop and still more. A musical history lesson over three CDs.
