WHERE THE HOKEY POKEY "IS" WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT

Pain & Concerts

Posted over 2 years ago
1. My laptop attacked me yesterday. OK, maybe that is not entirely correct. The truth is that I tried to pick it up right after I woke up, before even having coffee yet; it slipped from my hands, and fell on the floor but not before its fall was slowed down by my foot. It fell right on my foot's arch with one of its corners. Yesterday it was just pain. Today, my foot is blue and swollen and leaving my bed feels like walking on pins. So, you're gonna be stuck with me all day today. Humpftr #1.2. I saw Reamonn on Friday and Active Member ("one of the Greek hip hop groups I mentioned the other day":http://mog.com/Anna/blog_post/52237#write-comment) on Saturday. AM were fun fun fun. Reamonn are not my usual cup of coffee, but I like shows so much that I rarely miss one. Apparently, they have many fans here, since the concert was sold out. They appeared to be happy to be here and gave a good performance. Here's their Tonight:"Here is their Supergirl.":http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysG1qmP_OqU It's actually quite funny to observe how comfortable men feel to scream "I'm a supergirl". Funny, but "I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record".The only annoying thing is that there were MANY couples there, couples that were kissing, touching and making noises, if you get my drift. Here's a thought, get a room or go prove your love to one another at a dark corner, instead of making me to hear all your licking and kissing. Not to mention that I was out of barf bags. Humpftr #2.

  5. Dale says Oh no! That's terrible news!I was going to make a JPG out of my signature, so you could tape it onto your cast (if you need one), but my mouse-writing is too shaky. Oh well, please settle for one of these: :-*

I love such tests! You're the best e-affair ever! hahaha ;) Thank you, bro and Kez! You're very sweet :)

Although having you on mog all day because of it ain't so bad really, for us that is. :) And though naturally I wish it didn't happen, the way you wrote it actually made me laugh a little. :) It's better not to slow things down when they're crashing towards earth. ;)

  15. Anna says Kevin, yours is a heroic story though! You make me feel like a pansy now haha :D Uh oh...make sure you have coffee before operating heavy laptops! I've done it as well, but in a dark corner, not among so many people in such a crowded venue...slourp smouch etc :)

When I can actually hear tongue action from strangers, then, yes, I am :) Are you? I totally second the homonymous Interpol song though :) Blair heheheh

  22. 1234chainsaw says Sorry, I couldn't let a lame Interpol joke pass me by. As for OD-ing on Buzzcocks, somebody might understandably think that you're going to go and listen to "Orgasm Addict," "Ever Fallen In Love," etc., 40 times in a row (you could do worse things, though), if they didn't know of the British TV series Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

  24. Nixne Svix says Well Dearling , that sux....sorry to hear about it amd now; "Doc" here(moi) is gonna give you a hard time; cause sometimes ....you dont want to hear it , so.... 1.You may have a hairline fracture or total fracture, there is no way to know except a X-Ray and if you dont find out the long term effects could be much worse , if its as bad as you described....I would get an XRay or you could be looking at hurting yourself more(jumping around to Ruby) or actually it could already be "worse". Keeping off it is a great idea , but until/if you see a doctor take some Tylenol (non aspirin) Ibuprofen...that will reduce swelling. Also use this ..... R-Rest it I-Ice its with a cold compress or ice wrapped in a towel , frozen bagged vegies work fine too. C-Compress it, not too tight, wrap a towel to hold the ice pack in place with a little pressure , but not too constricting E-Eleavate it, keep it raised so the circuilation will not get cut off and it will heal faster... I know , im a worry wort, but most of these types of injureies are long term because the injured person didnt do anything in the short term...just so you know. Sorry youre hurt , but now you can go and check out all the pics Ive been posting om Multi....later gator

I remember one time at *Jimmie's* in New Orleans (wonder if Jimmie's survived the flood?).
I was there for *Dash Rip Rock*'s New Year's Eve gig - maybe the last one with Fred leBlanc on drums? - and there was one couple in particular sitting on top of a low divider wall - she was sitting in his lap with her legs round his hips; since she was wearing a fiarly long skirt, it was impossible to tell, but based on their overall demeanour, it wouldn't have surprised me if the were Doing The Deed right there...

I wanted to get that purse and take it down there and set it on the table in front of his wife and kids and be like....."uh you left this a week ago".....hehe. this was like 6 years ago and I just visited my friend the owner of the reastaurant , guess what purse was still on the shelf? oh my oh my....

  31. Augusts1 says Sorry to hear bout your foot injury! Are you typing with it?(You said above you are able to type cause it's not broken, lol). No fun being in pain. Have you been elevating it above your heart & icing it for 20 minutes on/20 off? That really helps the swelling & pain & helps it heal faster too(allowing the area to receive fresh blood to work more effectively). Like that song too, pretty. I hate it when couples make out all over the place, it's just so uncomfortable! Get better quick chica!

  32. Dale says Sorry to dwell on this unpleasantness, but has the swelling in your foot subsided at all? I do hope it's just bruised, if but to be able to live vicariously through your many concert exploits. I'm sure that if anyone would look great rockin' a black cast, it would be you, but it would be much better to avoid that mess altogether. As for PDA, love the Interpol song, hate the action. I think I gave up on PDA at about age 18. The description of actually being able to _hear_ tongue action made me throw up in my mouth a bit. You're braver than I to tolerate such behavior. Poor poor pumah, please do get better soon.

  34. Anna says August, if I used my foot to type, my laptop would have made sure that I would never be able to use it again lol! I am trying to take care of it in the best way I can. Thank you for your kind words, dear (and for calling me chica, it made me smile) :) Joxy, yup, that's you and your new badge of honour. After I finished watching the ones you posted on multiply, I went over to youtube and hunted down some more... I assure you that I will be in perfect shape by June (and hopefully sooner hehe) :) Bro, I think it's better than it was this morning, it hurts a bit less, but it's still hard to move. I think that it's because the laptop managed to hit a nerve, I can't explain it otherwise. Don't worry, not even crutches would be able to keep me away from a concert :) Aw, thank you, you know I fancy the black cast concept deeply :) I throw up in my mouth every time I recall it haha :) Thank you, adelfe mou...

  38. Mike the Knife says Consider me your follow-up appointment. (I've been otherwise engaged today so the MOGging was put on hold for a bit.) Hope the swelling has subsided. Ice up. Keep the foot elevated. And don't get hooked on those painkillers. I saw a TV movie once wherein a high-school cheerleader suffered a back injury and spent the next 90 minutes getting wasted on cold medicine with codeine in it. Sure, her back didn't hurt anymore and she never coughed again, but she started to look like a slob, her fellow cheerleaders turned on her, and her tongue turned a permanent shade of purple. I ask you, is it really worth it?
    Permalink posted 03/20/2007
  39. Anna says You're the best follow-up appointment ever! Don't worry, I don't use painkillers. I can endure physical pain (well, the kind I'm experiencing right now at least). Not worth it. And I can't help but curse her parents in Greek. Sorry, but you have to be a huge malakas (= wanker, asshole) to allow for this to happen.
