A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like A Kiss)

Posted about 1 year ago

Today, at Leeds, around 8:30 in the morning, snowflakes started falling. Luckily, I was awake to witness it. Now you may wonder what the big deal is. It's a big deal to me for two reasons. One is that I haven't seen any snow in over 2 years now. Secondly, despite this being a cold-related phenomenon, it always manages to warm up my heart. So I was just sitting on my bed, wrapped in my comforter, looking out the window at the snowflakes dancing their way to the ground. I felt like I was in a snow globe, only the snow kept falling outside of it.

I knew I had to listen to this Glasvegas song. It's just ideal, and it made the hairs in the back of my head stand up, because it describes what I feel in a wonderful way.

Happy December, MOGgers. May this month be everything you imagined it to be, and more.

Snow is so heavenly, I can't wait to get up for some night skiiing at Timberling Lodge on Mt. Hood, then, like you, it will be a winter wonderland experience.. thanks for the perfect description of your winter there.. sweet :0)

Great song. Liked it so much I went and bought it. Thanks for the listen.

I was at a family wedding on Sat and it was incredibly cold. So cold, the tears of joy froze solid on our faces and had to be broken off with chisels. Yet I had to admit the church grounds looked lovely, covered as they were in a blanket of white frost.  Aaah, winter.

Indy, sounds like you're all ready for winter! You're welcome...although after the snow, we got sun, then more snow, then just a grey sky, and now we're somewhere in the middle...you can call British weather many things, but 'boring' isn't one of them :)

Magical is exactly what I think the song is...happy holidays to you, too!

Fluxy, that's great, yay! The whole EP is lovely and depressingly Christmasy...sigh.

Hey, I read about the frozen tears - chisels incident in the Guardian...that was you?! Oh man, I'm going to keep the article and make you sing it for me ;)

I'm hoping to see a blanket of white frost here, too. And snow. Serious, solid, freeze your arse off snow!

Indy, that's interesting, 'cause they cover Silent Night in this EP hehe!

At least the singer isn't wearing his wayfarers inside the church...

Sounds like you're living in a dream. Enjoy it now cause after you shovel it  6 or 7 times you'll change your mind, just a little though!

We're stil awaiting our first snofall here, can't wait for the brown to get its first covering of white. So pretty ...

Glasvegas really are hitting on all cylinders with this one. Another beautiful song for their collection.

    Yes, Happy December to all.

David, when people say to me "you're living in a dream", it's usually meant to be a bad thing..I'm glad that's not the case with you :)

Do I really look like the shoveling kind? ;P

Dale, I know, it's sooooo lovely, and it was perfect for today! You should give it a spin when you get your first snowfall. Optical prettiness + sonical prettiness = priceless!

On a less relative note, if you need any help with Secret Santa, just let me know, I'm very willing :*

Did you guys get notified for this post btw?

Anna, you are one of the few reasons I stuck around on this website.

I originally found this when I wanted to hear what "White Chalk" sounded like before I spent the few dollars I had at the time.  Ramen Noodles or PJ Harvey....I chose PJ, and I chose to subscribe to you.

Your post just yesterday really made my day.  I was sort of lonely, my guy was off on a ski trip and I had the place to myself and only the cats, wine, a guitar, and my old faithful pc to keep me company.

I don't know if it was the fog, the awesome song selection, and the chance to get to compare the original with the very well done cover, or just my fondness of all the beautiful blogging you have done in the past, but you really made my day brighter by doing something that I hope you enjoy, because I know more than just myself appreciates what you do.

Keep up the good work, you are loved and apprecited!

BTW...I opted out of the ski trip becaue I grew up around the snow, and I have had so many sledding accicednts, and I don't have medical insurance.....gawd bless america(note the sarcasm).  I feared for my meager current financial situation plummeting into the cold, cold dark abyss.

Anna, I'd say that was me in the Guardian. Paps & journos everywhere I go. Very distracting. I tell 'em, "Hey, I'm not Brad Pitt, I just look like him." But they never listen. :(

fyreowl...awww....you made me blush 523543.6 times...thank you so much for your kind words!

Music > food, on any given day. I've made similar choices in the past, too, and I never regretted it.

I can't adequately describe how happy the fact that my post made your day a bit brighter makes me. I love posting, talking, reading, and listening, and if I am somehow able to offer 1/50th of what I am receiving from MOGgers, that makes me insanely glad.

Cats, wine, a guitar, and your old faithful pc? Sounds just fiiine to me (on a not so relative note, I really miss my cat...I can't wait to see him when I go back home for the holidays...meow!)  :)

Regarding the ski trip, I would have probably done the same thing. Plus, since you grew up around the snow, you didn't miss something totally new to you. There's always next time!

Thanks again, your comment really made my day. Have a great one!

Heath, the snow globe is not half empty...it's half full ;)

Lak, I used to not like the winter at all, but I'm a converted girl now :)

I'd love to do that btw. What you're doing in the picture, don't know what it's called in English :)

Fluxy, well, ridiculously good looks do have a price....deal with it and pay upfront! Accept the admiration of the mere mortals. Let them have someone they can look up to, set the example for the peasants! (I have lost the thread of my own thought, derailed my own comment)

madrid, nice! About the weekend trip, not the icy rain, that is. I haven't snowboarded in about 4 years now, I miss it. Enjoy!

Cheers, Mimi! Hope you get some {snow!} this year :)

    You're very welcome, uncle A!

Pat, may the snow force be with you :)

Rejean...that looks so good to me...thanks for posting the picture! I wish the view out of my window was just as white!

As far as the red button is concerned, let it buffer for some time, and then it will work.

cpetersonart3, patient buffering is what I do to deal, it works :)

    Kevin, you lucky snow duck!

Mike, yup...I can't believe you sucked me into a black time hole with the exact same weapon twice!

Zen, may snow be one of the may great things that you will experience in Manhattan! Thank you very much :)

Indy, this is what I found: A Snowflake Fell (And It Felt Like a Kiss) was released as part of a special edition double CD with the band's debut albumGlasvegas, featured in a small box with fold-out poster, and separately as a digital download.

So I'm guessing it will reach iTunes. If not, you can maybe MOG-mail Fluxy (FluxCapacitor) to ask her he got it from :)
