"A Proud American Web Site"

Posted over 3 years ago

I'll say. And a proud country, and a happy rest of the world, at that. Yes, America, the world is relieved and cheering today, because the world has been suffering, just like you have. You can feel the spirits lifting. I guess this is a small European cheer of some sort. Here's to you and your new president. May he have the courage, patience, and strength to sort through the mess. Here's to the good change.

"Remember, remember, the 5th of November". It's been a long time, but today, we are all rocking and rolling.

PS This is the second and last political post I'm making. From tomorrow, it's back to music, promise :)

Yep, I like that slogan, too. Much better than the previous one, "An Embarrassed American Web Site".

Any American who has been fortunate to travel around the world in the past 10-15 years should be thankful.  We were so close to a borderless, grid skipping, world pre 9/11, and it all just closed up.  I use to dream of the future when I could plane hop, country to country, with relative ease - like catching a train.  We're probably still pretty far from that, but as a person who has spent time in other countries, in hostels with people from all over, you realise how small our world is, and how much it hurts us when we close off from the rest of it.

It might get a worse before it gets better, but I feel like we have a president in control who can talk to us as the adults we are and guide us through the rough spots.

    Woooohoooo!!

It's time to right some wrongs and do some work.

I haven't really wanted to fly my flag prominently on non-holidays since 2001. I do now.

Fluxy hahahahha I think the next one should be "Can Jill recover from this hangover? YES SHE CAN!"!

bradfox, great, you really should be!

Indiana, it won't be swift, but we're on the right path for sure!

Tyler, "you realise how small our world is, and how much it hurts us when we close off from the rest of it" I couldn't agree more. Paths will become smoother. You can see the hope on people's faces everywhere. Borders are a state of mind, and hopefully, the circumstances will allow us to soon snap out of it.

It will take time, and it might get a bit worse, like you say, but you have a president that everybody feels is worthy of your trust on all accounts.

I'll say, Kev! Wave that flag till your arms hurt :D

Now when I travel I don't have to figure out how to yell "I hate Bush" in the local language as I dodge thrown rocks.

An incredible weight has been lifted - but there is much work to do, righting the wrongs of the past eight years - both domestically and throughout the world.

Wow. I guess I'm a bit overwhelmed and surprised at the international reaction. It's nice to feel hope and pride in country (again)...I think that feeling had been near forgotten. Thanks for the kind words, Anna, and back to the rock!!!

Charles ahahhahah that's right! You probably won't even have to use the word "Obama" :)

True dat, Mark. At least now you have a president that has his priorities right, and will hopefully know how to deliver.

Scot, I'm afraid that many thing and many relationships with other countries have been badly affected because of your last president these past 8 years. Many decisions of his led to actions that affected the rest of the world in a very bad way. The world had been holding its breath for some time now, trust me. I'm so glad we exhaled with relief today!

You're very welcome! Rock on :D

Uncle A, yup, we are cheerful today! Exactly, politics are a web that affects everybody everywhere.

For the first time in years, a man of intellect, dignity, cool and compassion - and a living, breathing, multi-cultural example of America the melting pot at its best - will be in the Oval Office. Woo-to-tha-hoo!

I was so pumped up and excited yesterday! I didnt even mind standing in the rain waiting for an hour, it was sooooo worth it.  I am glad I made it to a rally about a week ago to see him speak, may have been my only chance to see him in person now that he is the pres.  This is the first time in my life I have been proud to be an American.  I hope he puts Michael Moore out of business when it comes to poitical exposes, maybe now he will have something else to lampoon.  Cheers!!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!

It took me 90 minutes to cast my vote, but it was well worth the wait. I'm so amazed and thrilled by the election results. I hope our country will be able to restore its standing in the world.  This is one great step toward that!!
