  • Artist:
    Franz Ferdinand & Scissor Sisters
  • Track:
Suffragette City (Live, V Festival 2005)
There are various reasons for an artist to cover a song. To give a song something new, to prove that he can, to get paid for it, or to simply have fun. This particular cover here belongs to the last category. The sound quality is not very good, but it was the best I could find. If you have doubts regarding the motivation behind this cover, just watch the video (worst sound quality) :)Oh if I had been there.....HAPPY JUNE, PEEPS!

  2. Joxley says ...although the way that Kapranos and Shears look almost identical is slightly unnerving

  3. Anna says I know, so much fun! Tell me about it....if Shears didn't wear a fake fur and lame pants we wouldn't be able to tell them apart :)

  4. Anna says I mean the French "lame" not the English one! I can't find the tone in my keyboard! :)

  7. Joxley says I knew what you meant, dear, and it must be the first time I've seen an advantage to fake fur and lame pants...

  8. Bartleby says You forgot to mention covers as concert fillers and crowd-pleasers (which most of the time sounds like "feedback piss") Completely bonkers, I like their devil-may-care attitude and lamé though.

  9. Anna says Me, too, Mark! I wouldn't have the foggiest idea....the mp3 has better sound though :) Joxy, Shears is one of the few that can pull it off, whatever that means :) Now, blue lamé (stole the tone/accent mark from Michael mwuahahha) booty shorts... Michael, your comment is too ambiguous for my English abilities...can't tell if you enjoyed this or not, but I hope that you did :)

  10. Eric5776 says Wow. It's great when you put two fun bands like SS and FF on stage to play something like Bowie. Has anyone heard SS's cover of "Take Me Out"? Great version.

  11. Anna says I've heard that cover and posted about it as well, it is gooood! I fancy both bands, and I've seen them both live (FUN) but never together....that would be an extra treat...yum yum.....

  14. Bartleby says I did like their version but I think too often covers are just a way to fill the last 5 minutes of a gig... This was apparently captured in Athens, GA (USofA)

  15. Anna says Cheers, Headphone Commute! :) Blair, awwww :) I can call you tomorrow at 5 ;) Oh, I see, Michael. That's true, but if it is fun, why not :) Are those two random girls from the audience? Where's that empty bottle of beer (I wouldn't waste beer on them) ;)

  • RGM says Augusts1 : Yes I am, it happens for a few day's. It was worse when I was living in Bellevue for a bit. Not so bad here in S. Washington, sun lags still around 9PM here right now. Aren you up in Seattle?

  • Petey Lapides says I think the motivation for covering this song is that it's a *Total Blam-Blam!* Video looks like a collaboration between The Scissor Sisters, Franz Ferdinand, Sid Krofft and Marty Krofft. What a great song. First Bowie I ever heard (it had somehow found its way onto 1977 Midwestern radio). I became a fan for life on the spot.

  • Zeroskilz says That is an impressive way to do a cover. What's with the giant monster on the stage? :) I could just see the entire place blowing up from all the energy in there.

  • Augusts1 says Ray, I'm in N. CA & grew up & lived in the Portland metro area until 12 years ago. When you said the sunset at midnight I just had to double check your whereabouts, cause in my near 1/2 decade of life on the west coast I've not ever seen that happen, haha.

  • Anna says I'll say, Mikey! Ooohhhh and I can e-smell the glam coming from your post :) I'll be right there! :) Uncle A, I thought you might fancy this YEAHHHH! Or like going to heaven after some hot sex, only to have more hot sex there hahha Apparently, there is a friendship bond between these two bands, which, apparently, works to their fans' best interest :D Cheers, Ray, glad you think so :) I had no idea that sun was so naughty and sky-hogging where you live! Monsieur Petey, I never knew about Sid & Marty Krofft till now! I can see the surreal puppet {?} connection entertaingly clearly :) This song is definitely a David Bowie fan deal-maker. The first song of Bowie I heard was probably one from the soundtrack he wrote for the Labyrinth. I was so very petite when I got introduced to the Goblin King :) Thank you very much, Jeff! Your theme day rules! :) Mike, I suppose giant monster makes for gigantic fun in the Scissor Ferdinand/ Franz Sisters world :)
