WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Trust Your Trusted Moggers.

Posted over 3 years ago
I mean really trust them.I recently added the "My Trusted MOGs' Top Songs This Week" widget to my mog, because I consider it to be a way to show your respect towards them. And Bradley (a.k.a. Known Human) accidentally introduced me to Snow Patrol's Make This Go On Forever.Snow Patrol are actually more mellow than the music I usually dig (not that I am the queen of hardcore music, but you know what I mean),but for no apparent reason, when I heard Make This Go On Forever, I swear that sth melted inside of me (in a good way). Thank David for that little speaker button.Further searching on Snow Patrol revealed a cover they did on Beyonce's Crazy In Love. It's as mogolicious as snowflakes on a booty (if I were a gut that is). So,what I'm trying to say is that we should really trust our trusted moggers.Hear what they have to say and be on the look out for their music.I'm sure many of you found great new music from your trusted moggers,I just felt like pointing this out.I know,it's disgustingly Xmas-y,but I couldn't resist ;)

  1. lemontwist says My song hasn't changed in months, though. :| Good call, maybe I'll add that widget to my page.

  2. Anna says Thank you AJ :) Btw does anyone else encounter problems today when trying to follow the link of notifying e-mails?

  3. B42 says Yeah, it doesn't seem to be an updating widg yet but I've had it on my page all along.... Trusting my Trusted does become a bit of a chore though, checking out so many "new" tunes, there just don't seem to be enough hours in a day, (and night) to hear it all, but it has been worth it so far. So, yeah, TRUST YOUR TRUSTED ! Keep an open ear, and Mog On !

  4. Manos says I've never paid attention to this widget (maybe because it didn't seem to change), but you've never steered me wrong before so I clicked on the first song. Level The Raconteurs From: aclason It rocks. Thanks.

  5. Anna says Yes,I know about that change thing. My top song isn't changing either.Other moggers' songs do though,I can't tell how it works. Aw Tim,you make me feel so music wise pleased :) I'm always bummed when a song doesn't have that speaker button next to it.

  6. QueenofHell says Me too. I'm not that keen on Snow Patrol. I like the singer's voice but I think they're a bit bland. I bought David Ford's State of the Union after being able to listen to Cheer Up (you miserable fuck) on MOG. It's pretty mellow too...but I like it.

  7. Takeshi Kovacs says The speaker button doesn't seem to work for me. BUT the youtube posts, do, and the posts about concerts, etc. I get so much from just browsing the sphere that I don't even need this widget, - I don't even remember which posts turned me on to The Black Angels but thanks MOG, this site in general has really injected some life in my collection and music as a hobby for me. Trusted or not, I try to give as much a try as humanly possible. Nice post Anna.

  8. Anna says Thank you Tak (I'm a fast learner!). I'm not able to see videos but I hear you. Anyway we want,as long as we do :)

  9. QueenofHell says Hear Hear Takeshi! I have been introduced to so many bands that I'm excited about. Thank you MOG and MOGgers! Sorry to be negative about Snow Patrol. I know lots of people who like the band, including Colin, but I'm not that keen.

  10. Anna says Nah,it's fine,we can't all like the same things.A month ago I would have turned them down for being mellow myself. It was more of an impeccable timing situation.

  11. QueenofHell says Okay - yes sometimes your mood can mean that you're turned on to things you wouldn't ordinarily be - especially if you can relate to the lyrics.
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  12. Dale says The sheer volume of music I've been turned onto since I started MOGing is what keeps me here. That, and the roadie gig. :) I like Snow Patrol, but the new album is a bit bland. Couldn't sit through the whole thing in one sitting. If you haven't checked out their albu m Final Straw, please do, I got hooked on them from Run and Spitting Games.

  13. ExBeliever424 says My roommate accidentally introduced me to Snow Patrol. He was going on and on about how lame they were. However, I liked what I heard. I agree, pretty mellow stuff that you have to 'be in the mood' for......but definitely worth checking out!

  14. Anna says "The last girl and the last reason to make this last for as long as I could First kiss and the first time that I felt connected to anything The weight of water, the way you told me to look past everything I have ever learned The final word in the final sentence you ever uttered to me was love" (that's me saying my piece:P) (damn, am I being corny now?!)
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  15. Dale says Jsut a wee bit corny, but being corny among friends is cool, right?
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  16. Anna says Not. I have to restore my hardcore (ahahahahah) image: You want commitment? Put on your best suit; get your arms around me Now we’re going down, down, down (Marilyn Manson-Mobscene) Babble, Babble, Bitch bitch Rebel rebel, Party party Sex sex sex and don't forget the violence Blah blah blah Got your lovey-dovey sad and lonely Stick your stupid slogan in Everybody sing along (Marilyn Manson-This Is The New Shit) WHOAH! I feel much better now ;)

  17. Dale says hehehehe, You're cute when you're hardcore.
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  18. Joxley says "You’re cute when you’re hardcore" does anyone else think this could be taken entirely the wrong way? As for Snow Patrol, I kinda liked Final Straw, but I've not really heard the new album, but my geography teacher likes it, if that helps. Has anyone herad their first two albums?

  19. Anna says No,just you, cause your mind's in the gutter! ;P
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  20. QueenofHell says In the sense that you're implying John, I don't think hardcore and cute coexist.
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  21. Dale says I'm picturing Anna jumping around her room, screaming at the walls to Marilyn Manson, and that looks cute to me. Geez, I should have included more information.

  23. stevegoz says I used to have Snow Patrol's second album -- kinda twee, but with some nice "fuzz" to it. Very different from "Final Straw.":http://www.neumu.net/fortyfour/2003/2003-00184/2003-00184_fortyfour.shtml

  25. QueenofHell says Was that Anna's question about spooning? I didn't get involved in that but spooning is not only a position for sex it is also a position for sleep - so it could have been innocent enough. Some couples sleep with one person cuddling the other from behind. I'm trying to write this so that it won't sound rude - I don't think I'm succeeding. It's most useful if you are sharing a single bed - as in halls of residence of something - and you don't have any room to sleep side by side. Some website says it is an old fashioned word that means cuddle.

  27. QueenofHell says Yes - sorry I've cross posted. I'm prone to diverting. What more is there to say about Snow Patrol. I hope you've learnt a little more about the verb 'to spoon'.

  28. Anna says Naw,I'm just teasing ;) (and I hear practice makes perfect)
    Permalink posted 09/16/2006
  29. QueenofHell says Practise at diverting or at spooning? I think practise of both of those things, and spooning in both senses, makes perfect.

  30. Anna says I'm pleading the 5th Amendment (denying to testify against oneself) ;)

  32. Robbie Howell says i checked out kasabian because of you, anna. now i'm addicted. i knew about them, but had a preconceived idea of them in my head that made me disinterested. i never gave them a fair shake. until, that is, you made that post about empire. i trusted you! and now, as i say, i can't get enough. thank you. thank you. thank you.

  34. rock or death says back to the initial point of the post :-) -- the Top Songs from My Trusted MOGs widget is a bit buggy. It seems to update for some MOGs and not for others, and it also seems to depend on if your Trusted MOGs have their own Top Songs This Week widget on their page or not...anyway, we are working on this and hope to make it work more sensibly soon....but thanks, Anna, for extolling the virtues of this widget - we do believe it helps make it even easier for moggers to learn about new music they may like.

  37. Dale says In another lovely coincidence, my wife's best friend and her family came over, and which band were they interested in getting? Snow Patrol. Led to this exchange: Kristi (Melissa's friend): I love that song, who does it? Melissa: Yeah, I like that one too. Dale, can you get that? Me: I already have it. M: WHAT? Me: Yup, had it for months now. Have their previous album, too. M: Well, go get it! Two burnt CD's later, they both have their own copies of "Eyes Open" and most of "Final Straw". Melissa has also perhaps learnt to check with me when something good comes on, to see if I may already have it. Or not.
