Some time ago, a friend recommended LoveLikeFire to me. I didn't pay much attention to them, but since I was aware that I was too deep into Glasvegas and These New Puritans at the time to notice anything else, I decided to find the time to give them another, more fair chance. This time, this foursome from San Francisco, worked its way into my head.I don't usually quote reviews, but I agree with this one wholeheartedly. "LoveLikeFire frontwoman Ann Yu's tremulous, haunting vocal style combines elements of CocoRosie, Karen O and Portishead's Beth Gibbons, while the delicately woven threads of synthesizer, piano and guitar form an orchestral dream-pop tapestry." - Spin.comFrom A Tower:You can download the 2 tracks you heard here for free and stream their entire album from *"their website.":http://lovelikefire.com/music.php* If you do fancy them, please support them. They organized and financed their 2007 tour themselves, and *"their CDs":http://lovelikefire.com/shop.php* are cheap, so most likely self-released.*"Myspace account.":http://www.myspace.com/lovelikefire*

  3. Bartleby says Now is it wrong if I swoon for Ms Yu, as much for her vocals as for her looks? (Call me shallow :P )

  5. Anna says I love it when my posts become Dale-approved :))) Glad you fancy, Michael! Yes, I, who lost my marbles over Turner's gf yesterday, will call you shallow.... And she is beautiful, and her voice really agrees with me {I have issues with most female vocals, long story}. Pat, you are lucky! You should check out their myspace page for upcoming gigs. :)

  9. Anna says Well, I thought about it, and decided that, in the end, any girl that "achieves" it-girl {this term makes me throw up a little bit in my mouth} status actually deserves my pity and not my anger. ;)

  26. darmuzz says Like the song...my only reference point for this is "a little bit like Metric" but that's a good thing!

  27. scotfree says Loved that energy and great vocs! And how great is it to see the artist chime in the conversation??? Fabulous place, this Mog...

  28. FluxCapacitor says Let's have a bitchfest about Alexa! ...No? Okay, I'll do it on my own! I find her hard to watch because she tries to upstage and embarrass her interviewees, not a bad thing in itself, but it's undermined by the fact that she reads out her zingers from a card. I imagine this disrespect for the talented continues into real life (only without the cue cards...I hope.) So, I predict that Alex will go through a lot of grief, which is great news for Arctics fans. Think of songs he'll write! Lovelikefire certainly have potential. I like the shoegaze elements in their sound. The production is a tad too clean, though. I'd like to hear them dirty it up a bit, perhaps long touring schedule will do it for them. Good bet for the future, methinks.

  29. Anna says Naw, David, false accusations...don't get lawyered up! I'll un-ground you :) Glad to hear that, Darla! Helen, all the clapping goes to Robert who found out little LoveLikeFire den hehe :) Thank you very much, summer eyes! I MOG to please, heh :) scotfree, I'm glad you think so. And yup, MOG is a fabulous platform for music and friendships and bands! la la la la I'm game with the bitchfest, Colin! And if I may add, like Joxy said, she shagged a Horror, a Klaxon, a Lostprophet {frontmans only....} in 2007, and continued with an Arctic Monkey in 2008, which demonstrates her lack of professionalism and her lack of sexual classiness. I find the way she talks obnoxious and snobbish {and she doesn't have what it takes to back those two things up}, and what irritates me is that everybody says how beautiful she is. AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO SEES THAT SHE IS CROSS-EYED? Thank you, Colin, I feel much better now. And yes, I'm betting my money on LLF :)

  32. Dale says

Thanks again Anna, for finding this wonderful band. I got to see them live to open Monolith Festival, and they were very impressive. Most of the MOGolith group atended, and all had high praise for them.
