A cover and a birthday boy

Posted over 4 years ago
Scissor Sisters' acoustic cover of Franz Ferdinand's Take Me Out was recorded live on Radio 1 and later appeared as a B-side to the single Mary. I first heard it when Blair sent it to me. Our good friend was born 28 (am I a good friend or what) years ago today, so happy sexy crazy birthday to ya, mate! From your first MOG-mail to me ("I like your Seen 'em Live widget, so I'm stealing it!") to where we are now (where are we BTW? where is the relationship going, mister? ahhahahha), it's been one hell of a ride.Hope that you'll enjoy the cover, guys. It's Scissor Sisters' style, my kind of style :)I would upload the mp3, but it just keeps on playing in fast forward motion, no idea why.

  8. SA says The problem with covers is or they try to be too similar and usually it's the original that's better, or they try to take a different approach and take the song out of its context and lyrics. I guess I don't have to say which one I find to be the case here. ;) It has lost the tension and tongue-in-cheek humour of the original, not to mention you can't dance, jump, or scream along to this. :P *sigh* guess I should just stay in bed on cover Sunday. ;) Anyway happy birthday to Blair. :P

  9. ketut says This is not my cup of tea. Usually I like covers that a band "makes the song their own", but in this case I am thinking it's a lot like large people and spandex. " Just because you can, doesn't mean you should." I kid. (Too many quotations?)
