Glam scissors and disco sisters

Artist:

Album:War Child: Heroes

Track:Do The Strand
"What on earth are Scissor Sisters doing?!", I asked myself this morning {yes, I talk to myself all the time; we have the most wonderful chats. Myself totally gets me}. The answer is that they will soon make our nights hotter with a new album. YES!
"On October 13th and 14th, 2008, they premiered new material at secret gigs in New York City's Mercury Lounge under the assumed band names Queef Latina and Debbie's Hairy. The other three assumed pseudonyms used to play a series of secrets shows to test new material were "Bridget Jones' Diarrhea", "Portion Control" and "Megapussi" {note: ahhahahahhaha gotta love 'em!}. New songs included on the set list were "Television", "Who's Your Money", "Other Girls", "Major for You", "None of My Business", "Singularity", "Do The Strand", "Who's There", "Not the Loving Kind", "Taking Shape" (with Babydaddy on lead vocals), and "Uroboros".
Scissor Sisters have recently contributed a cover of the Roxy Music song "Do The Strand" to the compilation album, Heroes {http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heroes_(2009_album)}. The album is in aid of the War Child International charity and will be released on February 24, 2009. "Do The Strand" may also appear on the Scissor Sisters forthcoming album as it has been played by the band at recent gigs".

The cover is crazy (sorry, no mp3, the video is all I can offer) and this is going to be a very interesting compilation album. Have a very disco Monday and a barely legal glam February.

PS The last post on them was from 2007. Shame on you all! :P

I was just wondering about them yesterday! Haha. This is pretty exciting. I was saying that I was going to personally write to all of the people I need to put out another album, and they are totally on the list. Well, I guess I can take them off now.
Oooohhh telepathy, nice!
Who else is on the list? I nearly wrote a letter to Interpol before Our Love To Admire hahaha :)
hey, when did they add the chick singer? had alsmost forgotten 'bout them! I like the way they twist this to total dance, 'cause trying to capture the essence of the original would be tough. Covering such classics is a tough proposition :)
There are really two great charity albums coming out. You have this War Child one with some great bands covering possibly greater bands, and you have the one for the Red Hot Organization basically curated by the Dessner brothers of The National, with really the best American bands (sans Interpol) doing a new song. Good for charity, good for music, everyone wins basically. :)
Scot, she has been with them from the start. Blasphemy! :P
Twisted Dancing Sisters....agreed!
Cheers for the link!
Stefan, I know! Many sonical crimes have been committed in the name of charity in the past (I blocked most of them out of my memory), but these two albums will make amends. I'll gladly buy them both.
I TOTALLY knew who this post was about when I saw the title in the email notif. I finally just bought their last album 'Ta-Dah' w/in the past month(although I had listened to it alot when it came out) & have been scissoring out, haha. This song sounds great, thanks for posting it & the headsup on the new album. I had a feeling they were due since 'Ta-Dah' came out in '06. Sounds like a cool comp. too.

My shame is truly a burden
I am a fan cos they are so cutely subversive; maybe DRAGONETTE's record "Galore" will tide us over until the new album is released (ya gotta love UK/Canadian electro disco bands)!
I had assumed these guys broke up.....I guess that makes an ass out of me huh?
I will have to check 'em out.. as usual, I am so pleased with the new bands I have found out here. No other place can I find such great reviews, and recommendations. I trust ya'll more than MySpace! Go MOG!
the first time i saw and heard them was on snl that one time. i was maybe in high school but i was frightened. i think it was something he was wearing.
yes, gotta love the pseudonyms! hahahah! call me excited about the new album and completely digging the cover.
i asked myself this morning what we wanted to do today and myself, like, shrugged. myself totally gets me. ;D
I was snickering at the fake band names, too. I'm mezzo-mezzo about the Sisters, although Ana Matronic is a former denizen of the San Francisco demi-monde, and thus, I root for her. But I am a fervent Roxy Music fan, thus I was skeptical about the cover. Ultimately, the idea of recording it as if Giorgio Moroder had produced it as a Eurodisco track in 1977 was clever. (A hybrid of two strains of '70s glam? Figures.) It sho' don't touch the original though.
Uncle A, being subtle is not amongst my qualities :)
Get your scissors on! You're very welcome. They're late, but I'm willing to forgive them if the new one is delicious :)
inrumford, I don't know how you sleep at night, honestly ;)
Darla, DRAGONETTE you say....I'm on it, thanks!
Kevin, no....shame on you tho ;P
Kori, I have an ever-growing list of artists to check out..it will be the death of me, but it's a good way to go. GO MOG!
ardyjormkiv, ahahhahahahhahah I think that's adorable. He certainly knows how to cause a fuss :)
poe, I'd go see all them without knowing who they are, based on the pseudonyms alone!
Ain't that lovely? Ourselves always agree with us :)
Mike, I suggest that you give in. Do it for Ana!
Excellent description of the track, you word druid you! And I would expect nothing less from those crazy chaps :)
I was hoping Oasis would be the ones to start a big gay disco glam revival, but alas SS have gotten there first.
Oh great, now I have the mental image of the Gallagher brothers in glam disco outfits imprinted on my brain FOREVER.
OH WAIT! Step away from your picture editing programme!
Gallagher brother looking like a big girl? Editing program not required.
Oooooooh, get her!
That could only be more disturbing if he was wearing leather pants.
Yikes!
God, you arn't getting out the glitter hot pants again are you?
I will when you give them back to me!
