Hooverphonic

*" "Hooverphonic":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hooverphonic* is a Belgian rock/pop group from Flanders, formed in 1995. Though early on categorized as a trip hop group, they quickly expanded their sound to the point where they could no longer be pigeonholed into one genre". It's very hard to pick songs to introduce a band you've been following around since 1996. Do excuse the many vids here. It would be good if you found the time to check them out.I've already *"celebrated my love about Mad About You":http://mog.com/Anna/blog_post/117814#write-comment*, so I can now proceed with other beloved songs.A classic trip hop anthem (with their previous singer), 2Wicky:A happy moment (perfect way to start your day, if you ask me), The World Is Mine:A super eerie and atmospheric song, called One:Their very unexpected (fresh psychedelic elements) single called Expedition Impossible, from their brand new album, The President Of The LSD Golf, currently on repeat for me:And my own personal favourite...

  1. carmensandiego says Ah, I love Hooverphonic. I've been following them since 1998, and even had the extremely good fortune to catch them live with BT in 2000. I have some very good/very unsettling memories associated with the following song: Too bad I lost my copy of Blue Wonder Power Milk - I can't seem to find it in U.S. stores, and I'm currently too poor to purchase it online. Soon, though, very soon. Glad to see Hooverphonic getting some love on MOG.

  7. Anna says carmensandiego, we should get a metal for our dedication :) I never had the pleasure of seeing them live, glad to hear they can deliver! Club Montepulciano is yet another sweet H track. sommer face, yay! Get your H video love on :) And props to your friend! cuddlefish, thank you very much for the link. I have that album on a cassette (I feel old now) and some mp3s. Its digital form will be completed now. Thanks again! Jeff, I'm really happy to see you on the Hooverphonic boat! Joxley, I'm fine with the name, I have to say. Though I sometimes prove how blonde I am by accidentally saying "Hooverphonics". Blame it on Stereophonics! Random, it's my pleasure :)

  8. Joxley says I'm not sure..anything associated with a hoover can't really be too cool, and if you glance at it quickly it looks a lot like "homophobic" to me.

  16. Augusts1 says I love Hooverphonic's first album but lost interest when I heard "Blue Wonder Powder Milk". Now I know why since they changed singers! It's kinda like what happened w/me & Garbage, after their stellar 1st cd they went downhill. I've been meaning to give Hooverphonic another try & have listened to various songs here & there but just have'nt recaptured that first love ya know? Blair's gone too? Wtf?

  17. Anna says Uncle A, my favourite Hooverphonic album is The Magnificent Tree (their third). If you want to give it a spin, it's over at M. I think that B was the first or second one to leave.

  19. Dale says No wonder they're not getting hardly any MOG-love, I lost track of them completely after "2Wicky" and "Renaissance Affair". Their new singer really injected some life in their music.

  20. Perpetual Emotion Machine says I've only heard one song from Hooverphonic, and I'm not actually sure how I ended up with it, but it was "Battersea", and I pretty much listened to it six times in a row everyday for a week. Now I have some more to listen to. Thanks for the info!
