Time for me to wave my puritan flag again ;)
Swords Of Truth is the band's new single (released on May 5th)...how to describe it? The best I can do is say that after the song is over, what you expect to hear is an explosion that will blow your ears off, and yet you have no intention of backing away.

I wonder what those old puritans would have to say about all this...

This has nothing to do with music. It's a to- know- us- better post. Or to- avoid- us- better, if you will.
Do you have a thing? One of those things that makes good sense to you, but would make/ makes you a freak to the eyes of others? Share and scare. Come out of the freak closet.
I'll go first....if you see my bookcase (I'm not taking a pic, so that I can claim that I was posting drunk at 15:00 and this is not in fact a true story) you will notice something that might be a bit off the ordinary. All my books are in order. I don't mean alphabetical order, I mean colour order....their spines go from black, to blue to purple to red to orange to yellow to beige to white, with matching colour variations in between...
A book that has multiple, equally vivid colours on its spine, can confuse me, make me feel uncomfortable, drive me insane and not get a place in my shelf.
And before you ask, I tried to do the same with my CDs, but most CD spines have too many colours for this to work. The day I realized that was a sad day..
EDIT : also, when in the super market, it annoys me that people stand in the aisles doing nothing and are in my way. So, if I have to cross an aisle, I always cross the one that has soaps, cleaners, clorine etc, because the smell there is so intense, that people don't stand there gazing. I've been doing this forever and I only realized it a week ago.
So, there you go. Go ahead and block me. And remember to share your freakiness before you do.

Hey Anna, put those colourful books that drive you insane on their own shelf and use the colours to try to draw some mantras, or mount the covers on a poster-like slim flat wall displayer.
Don't tell us some colours are beating you ? :))))
Wanna see my freak side ?
OK...
I'm weak...the colour Order owns me....must not succumb....oooohhhh look at the pretty coloursssssss! :)
Or, I can just turn them the other way round, and place them at the white or beige place. That way I won't know which books they are, but at least the colour order will be intact.........
I got a comic! Lovely, Francois! Those balloons sure have many colours, don't they... ;)
For those of us who feel that if we tolerate Rihanna's voice our children will be next, salvation is here.
This is the new Umbrella.
Manics style.
It {indie} rocks.
It's lovely.
An ideal song to listen to while sitting next to your boyfriend/girlfriend, with your car swallowing up one asphalt mile after the other.
It might be old news to many of you (though I didn't see another post of this; if I'm forgetting something, do pardon me), but it's on repeat for me.
I'm rambling yet again, but this is just an awesome cover.

Some special old Puritans :)))
Puritan (USA)
First appearing in 1920, Puritan records were made by the United Phonographic Corporation of Sheboygan and were sub-titled "America's Best Record"! By 1922, the records were produced by Bridgeport Die & Machine Co and cost 50 cents, rising to 75 cents later on. Masters were taken from Paramount throughout the label's existence and the catalogue series was usually an 11000-series. The label ceased production in 1927.

Muuuuwwhahahah :))))
I sense there was a reason why These New Puritans would appeal to so many indie fans but couldn't put it into words until Wendy Fonarow, professor of anthropology at UCLA came along with her book "Empire Of Dirt: The Aesthetics And Rituals Of British Indie Music."
Here's what she says about indie culture:
""Religious narratives show up in all expressive forms, from politics to music. I see a lot of the religious narrative of Puritanism in the indie music scene; the idea that, to have the pure divine experience, it has to be direct and unmediated. So the smaller and more intimate a show is, the 'truer' fans believe their experience was, compared to someone who saw them later on in a bigger venue. That's why so many people claim to have seen the Sex Pistols at the 100 Club. You can also find the aesthetic of Puritanism in the way indie people present themselves, such as childlike clothing, this idea of returning to the golden age of childhood or the musical past."

Amazing how some people seem to see proofs of their own beliefs thru someone else's actions... endless subject of debate indeed :)))
