I have managed to become obsessed, (at least for the last hour), with staring at the different visualization options on my media player.....I normally dont care either way....However, there must be something about this Ratatat album that is making me sink deeper and deeper into this hypnotic abyss.....I think Im mostly obsessed with trying to match the best visual option with each song.....
With so many options, it’s difficult to get past Ambience.....but then which ambience? I thought I liked ambience water, but ambience anon and Niagara are pretty cool too...(if you want to vomit after 2 minutes..) ….But let us not forget about battery spikes and particle….
This Album, really is amazing.....Seeing how it’s completely instrumental, I think it will tie in perfectly with my next blog, pertaining to how lyrics have gradually become secondary in contemporary society.
So I’m driving to work, and I tune in to KROQ
Early side note…
I have a tendency to listen to the same CD over and over for days on end, and when I just cant take it, but am not ready to commit to something new, I listen to the radio, as a neutralizer. (ok, and some guilty pleasures which you will never know.)
Anyways, The DJ announces that after the break, she will be playing Silversun Pickups….Silversun Pickups! On KROQ ….(I wont get into the fact that this was the CD on repeat, mentioned previously) At first this got to me….But honestly, I don’t know why I was so surprised….They’re already all over Indie 103.1, and hello, they’re opening up for Snow Patrol at the Hollywood Bowl…..At an attempt to get to the bottom of my frustration, I tried to reflect on why I was so upset. Was I upset with sharing? Was I upset that this was another countless band I heard before they were on the radio... that I discovered them first, on some small time online streamline site?….That bought they’re CD for 1 dollar, a week later, at a sidewalk sale?
Who cares?? My anger immediately redirected from Silversun Pickups, and KROQ , to my own petty self……I realized that Im officially 14 years old….Since when was I consumed with obscurity? I guess there’s something that happens when you find a diamond in the rough, and realize that it was never yours to keep (?) I don’t know….
Don’t get me wrong….We have all gone through this in our lives……I just thought I left that part of me at some dumpy all ages show I went to when I was 17….Trite....yes, I am.

Shame on you! okay, okay but yeah. that's happened to all of us i'm sure. but there's no need to worry, no one wonders about your music sense or your fashion sense for that matter. like you said, you like to consider yourself "fashion-forward" and probably the same with music. nobody's hating :)

If you were listening to the CD and watching the visualization at the same time, then you would not be so sassy about my topic.

I am aware that the New Fidelity is playing on thursday, but I must say, there is another show that is peaking my interest…(perhaps we can do a double whammy?)
