Appendectomy
-
Artist:
I just got out of the hospital, suffering from appendicitus. They had to remove my appendix and I was forced to spend two very uncomfortable nights in the hospital, in a bad and - for all intensive purposes - immobile. That first night, I was able to fall asleep listening to Pedro the Lion using the "Play All" option on my iPod (six+ hours of Pedro, though I didn't get to sleep until five am after all of the ER testing, so I woke up half-way through Control after an hour of sleep.) I'm pretty sure it was the low toned harmonies in The Fleecing that knocked me out (I tagged that song for this post). On the second night, the day of surgery, Pedro no longer did the trick. With an IV in my left arm and a hole on my right abdomin, I needed something a little smoother and settled with an album I had lost contact with for the last month: "( )" by Sigur Ros, tagged is the first track - "Untitled 1" - which calmed me to sleep almost immediately. The keyboard layered with the piano part is so beautiful that it's intense, and has a power to bring a loved one that's so far away seem right in bed with you. Enjoy.
