I bought my first Roxy Music album while I was still in high school. It's not such a big thing for some but I did grow up in West Texas. The internet wasn't something widespread enough for most of us to have access to and it was still a very isolated place in 1996. I would go to the library and search through the periodical sections for bands that I liked and read old interviews in magazine anthologies dating back to the early '80s. Through several interviews with various members of Duran Duran, I first heard of Roxy Music. I found a used copy of the first Roxy Music album and it was like nothing I'd ever heard. By early 1997, my parents decided on dial-up and for the last 2 years of high school, I spent every free moment on the internet, blocking out my existance and obsessively learning about and listening to music. Roxy Music are special to me because I found them on the cusp of a huge change in my life when I struggled for information and every bit I found was so special.
