I know, I turned into one of those people that starts an account somewhere and then never goes back to it. I'm sorry. I just didn't give myself enough time to get used to the site. I'll try better this time because I really like the idea of this site. Anyway, Sunday I drove two hours and sat in DC traffic for half an hour to go see Bright Eyes! I wouldn't have missed it for the world. It was amazing. I'll start from the beginning:We got there with enough time to get to our seats and then the lights went out. Nik Feratis came on first. I must say his music wasn't my favorite. It was okay but reminded me of a mix of Jason Maraz and John Meyer. Neither of which I listen to more then I have to. After Nik my new favorite band hit the stage. The Felice Brothers are a good mix of alcohol and good old mountian boys. They felt like family just sitting on the front porch playing what they had. They were all so energetic and danced all over. I love that they have an acordian in the band. It makes it all the more original. I felt like I could sit and drink and listen to them play all night. Needless to say I bought their cd. We had bought our tickets well in advance to ensure good seats and we got them. But they weren't as great when everyone jumped up as soon as Conor and the band got on stage. I had a hard time seeing over the 6'7" guy in front of me but after some rearranging I worked it out and could see fine. I'm so glad that they played a lot of older stuff. As far as I remember they only played two songs off of Cassadaga, Four winds and If the brakeman turns my way. Both of which are my favorites on the album. Conor even did a few acoustic songs where the rest of the band left and it was just him and his guitar. It was amazing. He played Lua which was the first song I ever heard from him. He brought everybody out for the last song, a Tom Petty cover, which was so energetic I just wanted to dance! Conor even gave me a new favorite quote that night, [Talking about Dick Cheney] "If I ever see that Mother Fucker, I'll knock him the fuck out. I hope before he dies he realizes what a bastard he is!"Amen.
