WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

The Dixie Chicks Are Top-Notch

Posted over 2 years ago
When news came out in 2003 that Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines said to a London audience, "Just so you know, we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas", many country music fans and music industry experts turned their backs on the band. The band's future looked uncertain until they released their 2006 single 'Not Ready To Make Nice', a smart country-rock anthem that addressed the public outcry which surrounded them for so long. The song became a hit with the radio stations that played it. Shortly thereafter, they released their 2006 effort called "Taking the Long Way", a superb album detailing the trio's personal and public struggles after their downfall. Thankfully, the album has sold very well, becoming one of the best-selling albums of 2006. They recently won 5 Grammys, proving to their ex-fans and critics that great music conquers all and shouldn't be judged by a particular artist's political stance. Before they released their latest single and album, they released a music video for their song 'Top Of The World' from the 2002 album "Home". Here is the video in all its eerie but excellent splendor!

  1. deadmandeadman says The Chick's brand of generic (country) rock won't carry them far. They're enjoyin' bein' the flavor of the month, who can blame them? Get it while you can.

  2. owensdad says Can't say that I am a fan of theirs, so I don't care how many Grammys they won, it still isn't going to get me to listen to their music!

  3. MrFrost says Well, being that they've been famous and in the news for the better part of this decade, I wouldnt exactly call them the flavor of the month, even before this years grammy's, theyve experienced success that most bands will never even dream of. Im not a dixie chick fan, and i dont listen to their music.... but im happy for em.. more power to em.

  4. darmuzz says "shouldn't be judged by a particular artist's political stance" - maybe the reason they've made such a comeback is that the longer GWB is in office, the more people are AGREEING with the Dixie Chicks' political stance!
