Frightened Rabbit.

this is attempt 2 as the computer froze when posting the last one. It took me 20 minutes to recover

There is this one song, 'The Twist' which i do those handjives to, like in rilo kiley's 'the frug'. they also sound quite similar.

The Modern Leper is their chosen single, so it has the good guitar base, and then quite a U2 chorus, which just to say to brittanybf, isnt so bad here. i promise.

There are dark tunes, like Fast Blood which is pacey (is that spelt like the guy from Dawson's Creek or not?)
and keep yourself warm.

There are a few songs i'd listen to every day if i could, and the rest of the album is sound.really good british rock. but the good kind of rock. and im really avoiding saying 'indie', so alternative rock is my description of choice.

how was that for a very bad review, Mark Kermode i am sadly not, but at least i dont look like a scary vampire. seriously, his face freaks me out.

Bon Iver i shouldnt have listened

quick thing.

no rational reason why this song should make me think of really sad things, but it does, and GODDAMN,
crying sad, like when the hero dies in gladiator and butch and sundance-yes not real but its hard to tell sometimes.
im SURE this has happened to someone else.
i definately am sure of that

it reminds me of someone crying you know? like the guitar or someone is. you know like someone is always praying, and someone is crying.

i didnt know where else to go.
so dear mog
when im older, make sure i dont forget about this
i might just put it on every mix cd i make...just so i dont.

you know when you only have one really lovely cupcake left which you dont eat it, you keep it for an age, and then eventually throw it away 'cause of mould and the usual shit that happens to stuff

feel good having deleted myspace
i dont have to think about that side of the world every time i switch on the computer.

so i haven't really lost anything. i havnt been contributing to the general mog, so next post, i promise.

someone must have songs like this? you lean into the computer, and its all very strange

--Ode to the Computer in the room--

10 Things I Hate About You

I hate the way you talk to me
And the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car.
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
And the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick.
It even makes me rhyme.

I hate it...
I hate the way you're always right.
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh;
Even worse when you make me cry

I hate it when you're not around
And the fact that you didn't call,
But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you;
Not even close;
Not even a little bit;
Not even at all.

''they say im obsessed
i say im in love ''

Really and truly, i have never heard anything like this song. and i have got to stop listening to it cause a wee bit sad around the edges/
It reminds me of this film called 'Reach the Rock' with alessandro nivola, anyone seen it.
He swam to this huge rock in the middle of the river at night.

The cover by The Antlers i posted earlier. They are called Beach House.

Free downloads -

I have no pleasure in any man who despises music. It is no invention of ours: it is a gift of God. I place it next to theology. Satan hates music: he knows how it drives the evil spirit out of us.

Martin Luther

a little religious, but this is how i feel about this song. it's glorious

He covered My Bloody Valentine; and it's enchanting to the point of throwing myself over a bridge

Listening to him, it reminded me of something someone told me about persian rugs.
enjoy the song

The Antlers, Your Antlers, My Antlers

At only 21 years old, [In The Attic Of The Universe] is Peter Silberman's 5th release, though only his second under The Antlers moniker. After moving to Manhattan last year, he set up a cramped, make-shift recording studio in his apartment and set to work on what would become The Antlers' first proper LP, "Uprooted", a different sort of take on the transplant album, exploring claustrophobia and sleepwalking against a fuzz-folk backdrop.

[In The Attic Of The Universe] He spent 2006 performing throughout his new home in support of the album, and in the fall of 2006, sprawled his equipment on the floor and set to work on "In The Attic of The Universe", a concept-EP in which he ups the instrumentation from the acoustic guitar that dominated "Uprooted", introducing a full rhythm section, moog, accordion, and piano (both traditional and toy) and a host of others, while parts of the album were recorded outside the farmhouse he grew up on with an old Sony shoebox tape-recorder. The result is a sound revolving around swelling ambience and climactic explosions in the vein of The Arcade Fire and Sigur Ros, alongside Silberman's voice, a sort of cross between Jeff Mangum and Jeff Buckley.

Ignore the last part, he sounds nothing like them, as this is infinately more beautiful in my opinion.

Test Icicles

Sometimes, i can sense that there is a 'fill to this point' sign on me,
and it's just about done with indie/orchestras/supergroups

Another Mogger(fistula) tends to vere on the side of 'wtf' with his posts.
Now i could never get half the things he listens to but i like to think that the test icicles were pretty underground...

although they really were not in the shape of things to come. they were in NME for christs sake.
anywho, it really was a relationship, they broke up and broke my heart, but someone i know knows them so it's all ok. that was my little claim to fame there...or snobbery..ahha

anyway
this is basically my fuck you to anyone who pissed me off today. Which is the bus driver as he had no change.

If...

Bafflism.

There are voices that come out of people that for the life of me i wouldnt expect.
Katherine Jenkins looks like a christmas tree fairy, but her voice is so powerful albeit she's an opera singer...

But my point lies in hearing the increasing amount of mid-western american singers whose voices sound like they've had the worst day of their lives.
It's not only in the mid-west, but it seems to be an all american thing all the same.
While the (not so charming) brits (i am one) are doing their shitting, brain-dead, retarded cockney accent a la bitch Kate Nash and midget bitch Lily fricken Allen.

Elliott Smith, Ben Bridwell (band of horses), John Lindenbaum (The Lonelyhearts), The National, Mark Kozelek(sun kil moon),Spencer Krug (everything else)and beautiful chris garneau are sounding like they've had a mid-life crisis when they're lives at only around their mid-twenties...

I guess it was suitable to hear Hank Williams and Johnny Cash sound like broken glass, but not these whippersnappers...i guess thats what makes them different then.

It's like a warped sort of history.

The early 2000's were heavy indie strokes music, skinny jeans
then came the british influx, still skinny jeans,
now, i guess it's bearded skinny jeans, and the phrase 'southern twang' used NON-FRICKEN-STOP.

is it right to be jealous of ben bridwell's voice/

i want to write this seeing as it's on my mind everytime im on this goddamn computer, and as im very.ill.

This page, if my friends knew about it, they would probably disown me.

So would i actually.

it's my split personality, my brother would proably say 'urr what like that guy in Fight Club with brad pitt?'
urr, yeah!

the music disease or whatever i have, and the ability to write crap about stuff. This person is on here.

Then the boy obsessed, university going, NORMAL me is somewhere far away, well, once the computer's off it's there.

and i suppose the shame isnt from having this page here, it's from being silly about it all, and not wanting the two worlds to be anywhere near each other.

but as i said, if i knew my friends saw this page, i think i would delete it.

oh well!!

Edited 17/01/08

i tend to do this a lot, im a crappy perfectionist, and well, there was no joy here in having Elliott's song, and talking crap about stuff...

this song makes me smile

more so than any thing i have ever heard.More than the Beatles, anything.

i guess you have to find your own song, even if it's by someone called 'rubbish trash transreciever'.

and to tell you the truth, i do love George Harrison, and everything that he believed in and he was just extraordinary to me more so than Lennon, but the Beatles as a band...never stuck it with me like this song.

Elliott is just something else.

i'll admit the music i listen to came from my BIG BRoTHER. Cause for a psycho, he's actually got good taste.

Well, he had just gone to Edinburgh for uni, he was seriosuly home sick, and he took this song with him, and when i visited. This was the first song in his halls that i heard

i thought i had never heard something so good before, and why the hell isnt every song like this.

A few days i forgot about it, but it sounded so good, and theo reminded me to post it. I hope everyone does remember this song, even if you're not an englishperson.

well, it's been 8 days? I tried my best, technology rules pretty much everything at home, and well, at uni it rules my brain. I had to spell check disgusting. It's just so easy. Im at uni and its non too interesting.

got to get out of this place

Ok so im going to leave mog alone for a while, it's giving me nightmares. I've been a post psycho over the past 4 days, and i really really hate the computer at the moment

Well, i said i would upload the dad friendly rock song 74-74 by the Connells.
My memory of this song, would be going in the car to get some food, and i remember i liked it so much, i rewound it kind of a lot, this was when i was 11.
When it was released i was just a baby, i was born in 1988, this was released in 1993.

It was on a tape called Hits from the 1990s. i really did like it, but then i grew up.
But i think it made me who i am now. Seriosuly, if it wasnt for my dad, i'd be an R&B raving loony who buys compilation CD's of crap. And no offence to those who are and who do, but that's just not me.

Might be back. If i have any music that i want to get of my chest and share around.

It's the one photo i took myself that i like

love makes you laugh, so corny so true

JOY

The 1 song.
This was the first song i heard, in some shop in london.

At first i thought they were saying 'run' not 'one'. yeah...

They remind me of the Byrds, well what i've heard, despite the girl.

Though this song reminds me of The Connells - 74- 75. Maybe i'll post that too, it's been a long time since i heard that, my dad loves it, maybe that's why.

Joy Zipper, couple from New York, signed to Mercury , strange label (http://www.drownedinsound.com/label/view/256) ideal for them.

Btw, they're spectacular.

They need two photos, they're so cute.

www.myspace.com/joyzipper

UPDATE: the 1 song is mp4...

Here's another of their songs. This is also lovely. It reminded me of really green grass. But it's so so sad, and it's not as played as the others cause it brings me down.
it's about drugs...they'll explain

download the others.

really hard. but not, his voice dances and it gets addictive.

This picture's actually of the guy from Interpol...they sound ...well similar let's say. And Paul is lovely in person.

My music taste isn't that different from his, he's 4 years older. He is however obsessed with Radiohead. they're his band as he tells me.

He went to see a Justin Timberlake concert a while ago, never Radiohead...strange...

Pretty good!

This one's called

reminds me of florida or seattle in the summer...but whatever, it reminds me of this band which i can't remember. Any clues?
