English rap, especially grime, is just plain better than American rap. Not just english rap, but pretty much rap from every other country. Sure it originated here, but it's moved in a questionable direction. When you compare the current rap artists of England and America their music is better in almost every respect. You could compare it to Cuban rap, but the language difference makes it hard. American rap is filled with meaningless lyrics mostly put there just to rhyme. E40 's raps are filled with random words like "listerine strip". The choruses to most American rap songs are a single phrase repeated over and over again, often it's repeated through the entire song. American rappers really need to do some deep thinking and come up with something better.

you're taking it completely on face level, if you looked at "indie" the same way (since it seems to be marketed these days) you'd see the more comercial versions of a genre with some really great artists, do some digginf, listen to mos def, common, talib kweli, shit i even like kanye...but then i guess most of that is ip-hop, fine cadence weapon, busdriver, clipse, the game they're all damn fine, shit jay-z, don't you be tellin' me my american shit ain't good. Ha, that said I will fight for grime till i'm blue in the face, grime is the shit, and i'm really kind of glad it hasn't caught on over here so i can be all cool and individual, let's hope the masses don't find the joy of Kano anytime soon
I disagree...they are both good...but if you put a gun to my head...real American, ghetto-inspired hip-hop is still about as lyrically sharp as music gets!
lavender diamond, ha, just noticed that...you know what the funny thing is, i just noticed a small deal of buzz about them after seeing them open up, weird, i guess they're kind of big in the LA scene
