Peter Hook Attacks HIs New Order Bandmates After Bitter Breakup
-
Artist:
Because we love the smell of fresh band breakups in the morning..
Ex-New Order bassist Peter Hook has declared the entire group defunct, despite the fact that the two remaining members wish to continue recording under the old name. This disagreement has created a stirrup that could possibly prompt legal action, as Hook threatened litigation against his ex members.

It all started when Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris declared that Hook was no longer part of the groups set up, Hook responded with a "you can't fire me, because I quit!" type response, adding that the group no longer existed without him. Summer and Morris then responded again, repeating the fact that New Order is still a functioning band, minus Hooks.
Hooks then took the battle to Myspace, posting a blog entry stating, "This group [New Order] has split up! You are no more New Order than I am! You may have two thirds, but don't assume you have the rights to do anything 'New Order-ey,' because you don't. I've still got a third! But I'm open to negotiation." Hooks closed the statement in grand fashion writing, "See you in court!"
This is grand, I guess we all have to wait and see if anything "New Order-ey" happens so we can see the sparks fly.
