Fergie Agrees To Place Advertisements In Her Music

Posted almost 5 years ago
I'm normally pretty liberal when it comes to music, but this is a little over the line if you ask me.

Fergie has inked a deal worth £2 million with clothing company Candies, according to NME. Unlike other artists who merely mention popular brands in their songs, Fergie's contract stipulates that she create songs from scratch specifically to promote Candies.
An executive at Fergie's record label was quoted in The Sunday Times saying, "With record sales in decline, you must find novel ways to make money out of music. The trick is to make the brand part of the song so it slips down easily rather than choking the fan."

  1. Sterfish says Considering that many artists (mostly those in hip-hop) name drop brands without monetary compensation, I guess this would be the next step. As long as the music is actually good, I think I could deal with this.
