Artist:
You know you've made a mark on the world when artists regarded as all time greats flock to re-record your songs in tribute. A double disc entitled "Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino" is coming our way Sept. 25 via Vanguard Records. Elton John, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Robert Plant and Willie Nelson have all remade their own versions of select Fat Domino classics, reports Billboard.

Proceeds from album sales will go to New Orleans public school music programs, and rebuilding Domino's home which was destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. B.B. King, Tom Petty, Lenny Kravitz, Norah Jones, Lucinda Williams, Ben Harper (with the Skatalites), Toots and the Maytals, Taj Mahal, Herbie Hancock, Corinne Bailey Rae and Bonnie Raitt also submitted songs for the album. Paul McCartney can be heard on "I Want To Walk You Home", while Petty is crooning on "I'm Walkin'."
The idea for "Goin Home" came about after Fats donated part of the proceeds from his last album to New Orleans musician non-profit Tipitina's Foundation. This year while thinking of a way to return the favor to Fats, organizers at Tipitina's put together this project to honor him. The idea came to me last September when I was trying to come up with a way to thank Fats for donating. I also wanted to create a project that could shine the spotlight on our city's unique music culture," says Tipitina's Foundation executive director Bill Taylor.
Here is a list of confirmed contributions to "Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino": "Ain't That a Shame," John Lennon"Don't Leave Me This Way," Dr. John "I Want To Walk You Home," Paul McCartney"I'm Walkin'," Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers"Blueberry Hill," Elton John"Blue Monday," Randy Newman"Don't Leave Me This Way," Dr. John"Let the Four Winds Blow," Toots and the Maytals"When I See You," Olu Dara with Donald Harrison"Trombone Shorty," Lenny Kravitz with the Rebirth Brass Band, Troy "Whole Lotta Lovin'," Andrews, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis and Maceo Parker"I'm in Love Again & All by Myself," Bonnie Raitt & John Cleary"It Keeps Rainin'," Robert Plant with the Lil' Band O' Gold"Goin' Home," BB King with Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk"My Girl Josephine," Taj Mahal with The New Orleans Social Club"Please Don't Leave Me," Art Neville"I Hear You Knockin'," Willie Nelson"I Just Can't Get New Orleans Off My Mind," Irma Thomas and Marcia Ball"I'm Gonna Be a Wheel," Herbie Hancock with George Porter Jr., Zigaboo Modeliste and Renard Poche"One Night (Of Sin)," Corinne Bailey Rae"Don't Blame It on Me," Bruce Hornsby"I Live My Life," Lucinda Williams
