The Battle Over Luciano Pavarotti's Estate

Posted over 4 years ago
Whenever someone with a lot of money dies, there is an inevitable battle over finances, Pavarotti's case is no different. Luciano signed a will shortly before he died which left his United States assets to his second wife, which has left a few people unhappy. There has been speculation that Pavarotti was forced to sign a document when he wasn't in a proper frame of mind to do so.

"Mischief makers are painting him as a vulnerable man who was coerced," Terri Robson, Pavarotti's manager, told Reuters in an e-mail. "Pavarotti was a highly intelligent man and knew exactly what he was doing when he initiated this will over a period of time in collaboration with his Italian lawyer and his U.S. lawyer of many years," she said.
Luciano's American assets total over $20 million dollars, have been handed to his wife, much to the dismay of his three daughters who believe they should have it. Part of the reason for the confusion we have now, is because Pavarotti wrote THREE wills. The first was written in December of 2006, the second in June of '07, and the last shortly before his death.
An Italian magistrate said this week that he was possibly looking into probing this situation for foul play.

  1. Sturgell says what a mess. At least I know the people I love wont have to worry about that, I'm sure I'll die broke. Have you ever seen the film Satyricon? Felini has a great way to deal with people clamoring for your estate: spoiler alert whoever eats the most of your body gets the most of your money.
