Luciano Pavarotti Remains Hospitalized

When opera star Luciano Pavarotti was admitted to a hospital almost two weeks ago, all indications pointed to a short stay and quick release. Twelve days later, the tenor is still admitted in the facility and is undergoing more tests. Officials for the hospital say the tests are related to the pancreatic cancer that he has battled since last year. Pavarotti underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor in summer of '06 and has not been completely healthy since.

Nicoletta Mantovani, Pavarotti's wife, stated he preferred to remain in the hospital because he was more comfortable there, he is receiving treatment in the cancer ward. Hopefully the extended stay is primarily a precautionary action.
Since his debut in the 60s, Pavarotti has gone on to be regarded as the greatest tenor of our generation.
