Leave it to the iPod shuffle to remind me of the good life, namely Datarock and the spectrum that they manage to encompass. 'Princess' and 'Sex Me Up' can whip an audience into a frenzy, but 'Laurie Anderson' demonstrates a deeper sensibility. By gentler I don't mean boring- this is just an amazing song and indicative that Datarock is more than a Devo channeling party band outfit. Besides, no way a tribute band could get a crowd of jaded industry people singing along to 'Time of My Life' but that's another story. Anyway a huge force in me going to art school in Brooklyn back in the day was a fascination for all things Lou Reed, so this song had me at hello. Also, check out this interview I did with Fredrik for IceCreamMan :: We waxed poetic on Tron, hoodies, that fateful first gig and how many damn jumpsuits they have. Only like 15% of the convo actually made it online but there are a TON of photos.http://www.icecreamman.com/site_draft/new/index_frame.html?http://www.icecreamman.com/music/article_1768.shtml&1
