Super Rare Footage Of Bob Marley Hanging Out In Brazil

This was shot during Bob’s trip to Brazil with Isalnd Records owner, Chris Blackwell, singer Jacob Miller, and Wailers guitarist, Junior Marvin. I believe this footage was shot in early 1980. There is footage here of Bob playing soccer, I read somewhere that “on a scale of one-to-ten, that day, Bob was a one,” this is significant because it indicates the severity of his cancer at the time this was filmed – Bob was ALWAYS an EXCELLENT soccer player, otherwise. Apart from the depressing fact he was terminally ill during the time this footage was shot, it is enjoyable to watch because you can see the reggae king enjoying himself in a foreign land; surveying the beach, interacting with locals. Brazil, by 1980, was a country dominated by a strain of music (reggae) singlehandedly elevated to international acclaim by this unassuming, wiry Rasta. I don’t know where exactly this footage came from, but after 15 years of devouring all things Marley, this footage came as a signet piece of shimmering sun-drenched history.
