Black Moth Super Rainbow fuzziness joy

This was another group I found through eMusic recommendations. If you relish in the hazy memory of the first time you heard "Kelly Watch the Stars" or the whole _Premiers Symptomes_ album, you should very much enjoy this record. It also reminds me of the first fantastic Grandaddy album (one of my desert island records, for sure, _Under the Western Freeway_).Not to say that the music is derivative--far from it. Its like a psychedelic version of what those French dudes used to do. Funkier, too, more soul, and way less cold. And its tighter and more restrained than Grandaddy ever was. So, yeah, I guess that means its half way between Air and Grandaddy.OK, so I'll call it fuzzy psychedelic well-crafted thematic electronic music. That's what it is. The lead-off track (sampled here) hits you in a good way. Its confident in its fuzziness. They from Pittsburgh. Yoyoyo! (wiki link) (band site) Pittsburgh is a very cool, beat-up city. I'd like to say "Pittsburgh, its the new Baltimore," but I just don't think it can compare. Average man-on-the-street in Pittsburgh looks like he's doin' alright. Same guy in Baltimore looks _mean_ (in my limited and biased experience). I like hanging out in both, though.Digging a little, I found they did some touring/collaboration with Austin's The Octopus Project. Now, that's a band that's been slogging it out forever (three piece instrumental mod-space-rock, girl with the perpetual haircut playing theremin). Don't get me wrong, I think The Octopus Project music is really fun, but I find Black Moth Super Rainbow's stuff to be a much more mature sound. Still, it'd be cool to hear the whole collaboalbum (hear samples and one full track at the Graveface Records site).
