Out of the blue, I got an artist alert email from the iTunes store about a couple of Low albums that have been out for a while--_Things We Lost In The Fire_ and _Trust_, albums that I _thought_ were already on the store (they were released on 2001 and 2002 respectively). Fluke, or not, it was a good reminder to listen to this all-time favorite album of mine. Seriously, its top 10 all-time for me.
To me, _Things We Lost In The Fire_ is the pivitol album between the early shoegazer-minimal albums and the rock-oriented-minimal last couple of albums.
Here're a few lyrics from a great some from that album (from Low's site):_when they found your bodygiant X's on your eyeswith your half of the ransomyou bought some sweet, sweet, sweetsweet sunflowersand gave them to the night_The band was involved in a Christmas benefit concert for an east African school-building project for the Massai people of Kenya, and Alan Sparhawk (guitar and vocals for Low) went to Kenya for a couple of weeks to help build the school. The people there have a very unique vocal music style. Some mp3 samples are at the project's website - laleyio.com.So, um, yeah. My question is still unanswered. Why did I get "alert" emails from iTunes about 5-year-old albums? I guess it turned out to be a good thing.
