WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

One of those days

Posted over 2 years ago
So, after a few days of brilliant weather, we're back to the in-between. Cold, rainy, snow, but no real commitment to either one. This kind of weather sparked me to put on Ryan Adams' Love is Hell for the drive this morning. I found myself enjoying that record more than I was expecting to. I like the album - Though, I never seem to listen to it. That should be changed, I have been neglectful.Sad music never has the anticipated effect on me - the beauty of the mood that's set and the lyrical quality that comes from suffering (rather than party party party) often push me into an appreciative trans. Never have I felt that more than today, when Love is Hell finished and I moved onto Red House Painters' Songs for a Blue Guitar. Have You Forgotten and the title track Song for a Blue Guitar just floored me over and over again. I must have listened to those 2 songs about fifteen times today. I also came to the realization that I don't have any Red House Painters on vinyl. I quickly came to an equally alarming realization - Red House Painters records are fucking expensive.Time to drive home...I've been plotting my new job for about 2 hours now and I need a beer. I've got an hour commute, perhaps I'll listen to them a few more times on the drive home.

  1. annnna says We have the same kind of erratic weather. Sunny one day and completely gray the next. At least you've got some music to go along with it.
