Never in my life am I so moved by a singer's voice and emotions when they sing. Angelique speaks to my soul and my heart as no other besides India.Arie who is African American while Angelique is from Africa.For me as an African American woman, it is comforting hearing and seeing someone who looks like me, but her appeal is to the masses. You can feel the depth of her heart through every song that she sings with fervor and pride.It would be a joy to see her perform in person, but for now I am content with listening to her CDs. One of my favorite songs by her is, "Bahia" which is on her Black Ivory Soul album. I first heard Angelique on a compilation album when I was traveling to Africa in 2002. Her voice stood out to more than any of the other voices on the album. She is truly a treasure who should be appreciated.Give her a chance.You will not be disappointed.
