Janelle Monae - the Future of Independent Artists

Posted about 4 years ago
Janelle Monae - Picture from her myspace pageThank you, JBrotherlove, for the recommendation on Janelle Monae's album, Metropolis Suite I "The Chase". Now, I understand why he was RANTING and raving on this futurist alternative rocker upbeat fresh soulful voice in the music industry.Read JBrotherlove's review here: http://www.thebrotherlove.com/mediumrare/janelle_monae_wants_you_to_wake_up.phpI want more from her because only 5 songs are on her digital album, but they are all tight! In fact, if more artists considered her business structure of less is best and at a price that you can afford, then go for it!Though on her myspace page she said to go iTunes to buy her album, I use www.emusic.com because their prices fit my budget more appropriately. As many people know, I ADORE music and I try to support the independent artists that I can. However, I do not have a zillion dollars. That is why I set up an account at www.emusic.com where I have a monthly budget. So, if you want something fresh, innovative and catchy to brighten your day, check out, Janelle Monae.Janelle Monae: http://www.myspace.com/janellemonaeJonalee Monae: http://janellemonae.com/

  1. Bartleby says Flippant and brilliant. Her voice is very evocative in the most positive way possible. Like it a lot. Will check her on emusic very soon. Thank you so much for contributing to the impoverishment of this music addict thanks to your post.

  2. 2Serenity says {{Bartleby!}} You are making me cheese! Bless you, Bartleby. U know I am a music addict too so I have to discover the music on my little budget too. I have been trying to put it in the universe for some people to put their music out there for us to preview for free and we can buy if we like. I am just BROKE now! However, I paid for an annual subscription to www.emusic.com so that is where I can enjoy and have fun. Otherwise I cannot afford to buy like I used to. In America a lot of the music stores are going out of business. No one is buying CDs anymore according to everyone. But I know a few of us do! I just bought some CDs last week but that is it!!

  3. davidaarong says Ohh... that is nice. Nice find on the track and artist. Like the old school 1950's soul and R&B on this track. Also has a little "spy" movie music thrown in there for good measure.
