Felt...is truly FELT!!

    Felt (Slug + Murs)
  • Album:
    A Tribute to Lisa Bonet
  • Track:
    Life Vegas
Despite how some critics want to bash hip hop, there is a movement of creative humorous and conscious hip hop that defies the mainstream hip hop that you hear on FM radio.Felt (Slug + Murs) came to my attention on a fluke as I was browsing through www.emusic.com for nothing in particular. The titles of their albums alone made me curious to know why would a group dedicate an album Lisa Bonet and an album to Christina Ricci. When I realized the creative humor behind the mastermind of Felt, their albums rocked my world. Sitting at my desk listening to them, usually I am jumping up in my chair trying to pop, lock and drop it. Truly the listener is warped into a dimension of carelessly only thinking of self and no one else.Experience Felt!Honestly I do not understand why they are not well known! They kind of remind me of Pharcyde in a 21st century style! =)http://www.myspace.com/mursandslug

  1. mickimicki says The first half minute alone is worth my money... that raw beat, and the crippled conga sample. Fantastic find! I think Murs is on someone's album I own, but I hadn't known about this dynamic duo. THANKS, Ma'am ;) <3

  2. Johnniegee says Very nice and much love to the originals of Hip Hop... Speaking of originals, Mr. Bill Kamerra the owner of Bboy Records, Boogie Down Productions is a partner of Johnnie Gee the legend of soul.. Check this out: Visit the original maker's of Hip Hop here http://www.bboyrecordsworld.com/

  3. 2Serenity says @mickimicki - much love to you always cousin! Glad to make you smile today! How are u?!?!?! {{mickimicki}} @johnniegee - thank you for the love. When I think of Boogie Down Productions, I think immediately of KRS One (D Nice, etc). Though his music was tight, I had a personal issue with him till this day I did not realize why he did what he did. When I worked for BET's Teen Summit, he told me and another teen summit member that he would never hire a black attorney. I took personal offense of him telling me this when I was 15 years old because my mother is an attorney and I grew up knowing many black attorneys. However, KRS One did say the reason why he said that was because most of the people in the music industry are Jewish and he rather have a Jewish man taking care of his business than a black man who may end up taking all of his money. I was salty and bitter about this comment for years especially how KRS One wanted to come off as this conscious hip hop man but as I got older I began to understand why he said what he did. It was just too much confusion though at an impressionable age to understand why he said that to me. We did exchange a few words and he respected my views but he told me to wait for I would not understand until I was older. Now, I do. Thanks for the moment in hip hop industry. Were you aware of this book by Eric Michael Dyson?! I appreciate your thoughts as always! =)

  4. mickimicki says Jennifer, you just fattened up my amazon wish list by yet another volume ;) I'm "so-so" (like they say in West Africa, do you even say that in the US?)... meaning, you know... loss is a pain in the ass and pretty much everywhere else... but I have much more appreciation for what I "got left" than before it/they became the "left". Especially my son, he's amazing me all the time, and he's really good with my pain... trying to cheer me up, and succeeding ... also my mother and sister and friends... And I'm trying to do new things, to open up a new chapter of my life, rewrite my plans... some of them things that Chris would have wanted me to do, anyway, and other stuff too, "all of my own" things. (I still wish you coulda known him in person! You would have been so proud of him.) Much love back to you my cousin over there!

  5. Jonh Ingham says That's a fun start to the day. Cute video! (Is "cute" a word you can use in hip-hop?)

  6. 2Serenity says @mickimicki - Americans say so so all the time. Totally understand your vibe! Chris' spirit will guide you through this new chapter of your life. Sounds like your son is there to put the pieces of the puzzle together. Children are a amazing! You are blessed, micki! Also, knowing you have a Mom and a sister there in support is a God send too. Just know your online family is here to keep you encouraged! @Jonh Ingham - u can say "cute" anytime! (^_^) If people have issues in it in the hip hop industry, that is their problem!!
